I bet you do! I’m sorry it’s all gone pear-shaped for you & your family. But the important thing is that everyone recovers safely & quickly.

Maybe you could do something in January? A post-Xmas blues-buster kinda thing? wink

On a brighter note, Pfizer’s Covid treatment pill has just been approved. A simple 5-day anti-viral course of tablets, to be taken within 3 days of experiencing symptoms, or the day immediately after testing positive. Apparently, it reduces the risk of severe illness/hospitalisation by almost 90%. I’ll take those odds! nod

 Thanks.

You are right that obviously the most important thing is everyone recovers quickly, God willing they will.

It was going to be a special time because everyone was in the same place at the same time, after Christmas it wont be so easy, but we got through last Christmas, we will get through this one.

Good news about the new pill, anything that can cut down on serious illness or potential spread will be a blessing.

The vaccination has obviously been a huge success too. A record number of people are being infected, more than 100,000 in the UK today,  but so far hospital admissions are not rising accordingly. It's early days in regard to the new variant, but  fingers crossed admissions and deaths will  stay lower than  expected.

Yeah, like the anti-viral drugs for the likes of shingles that reduce the severity and have been around for ages….. it’s took them long enough to work that one out! bored

I'm seeing my youngest and her husband on Friday and the other two tribes on Saturday.

Hopefully my youngest hasn't caught it from her husband. She's getting a test today.

At home. There is no way I am going to no pub or restaurant over the festive season!

I went to a family wedding 2 weeks ago and she had the whole thing done in a hotel!
So after the ceremony she had to go into the main room were the staff were doing plates of

canape’s . I nearly had a bloody fit, there must have been around 90 people in there all singing

to the live band. I was ready for home, my anxiety went through the roof.

So no, I am staying at home, and bugger anyone else. I have my fizz which I have on the day.

I am sorted. lol

I don't blame you.   We avoid crowded public places like the plague.   I've never been fond of huge crowds anyway.   My worst nightmare is going to a football match.

 Have a good Xmas Twiz.

My Xmas is back on.  My grandson tested with covid ten days ago, but he's clear now, so they can come on Boxing Day as planned and my brother,  daughter and  granddaughter coming Xmas day!

My oldest grandson has tested positive this morning.
The youngest one is really feeling poorly right now, this is turning out to be worse than last Christmas.

The timing of this sucks, but I think this might be the beginning of the end.

This nasty thing has mutated itself into its most contagious variant yet, but also it's least destructive. Hopefully all of this widespread infection is the beginning of widespread immunity. The vaccines sure as hell haven't done that. They are simply a medication that mitigates some of the effects. They definitely don't confer what we used to call immunity.

I have no plans for Christmas - just when you think things cannot possibly get any worse they do.

This world is a shithole.

The timing, as you say Maddog....sucks. cry

We have all avoided this for going on for 2 years, now, the week before Christmas, 2 households are down with it. My youngest grandson, who has been jabbed, is really poorly now, the older one who has just been diagnosed is still feeling OK.

We swapped Christmas presents through their open window today....I honestly could have cried.

It's blowing right through this "vaccine".  My youngest and her husband are coming over later. He feels fine and it's been two weeks since his symptoms started, but he's still testing positive.  My daughter tested negative yesterday, so we are just going to carry on.  I decided to get my booster yesterday. Based on what I'm reading, 60% of the US will catch this variant, vaccinated or not. May as well do what I can to get the most mildest case.

I'm still counting on 3 jabs and a prior infection protecting me. I guess we're all about to find out.

The only hopeful news now is (unless it's contradicted soon) the omicron is less severe than previous variants.

All I know right now is this Christmas is for us, worse than last Christmas, where even though we couldn't mix properly, at least everyone in the family was well.

Youngest grandsons temp has at last gone down a bit...so at least that's good news.

We can only make the best of what we’re faced with, it’s one day only after all… there’s many more to follow!…. Merry Christmas Vam hi
