It's a beautiful day is the name of the band.

Here's a track called... White Bird.

Both tracks from my favourite album by them from 1969 called Marrying Maiden.

Here's the full album.

It would have been my mum's birthday today.
Came down this morning, a white feather was on the kitchen floor.
Bigger than a cushion or pillow feather, no idea where it came from.
The kitchen door or window hasn't been opened since Monday because we have work being done and we are using the front door.

One of life's little mysteries?

Not really a mystery.   I think more like  a message.

I wish I could believe in such things but I have had nothing - absolute zero from all those who have passed.

If they could have they would have sent something most recently poor Dad but there has not been anything, in my opinion once you are gone you are gone forever - just like every other organism that has ever existed on the planet.

We are nothing special.

It's like anything else.  You're either tuned in or not.     I know people like you, and then one day something happened to change it all for them.   My friend's hubby lost his dad some years ago, a heavy smoker.   They went round to clear out his house, neither of them smoke.   Started tidying up and came back into the living room and there's this lit fag smoking on the arm of the chair.  Nobody else was in the house.    Then, as they were about to leave, a photo of his dad was lying on the floor in front of the door.   It hadn't been there when they arrived.   It totally altered her husband's outlook.

That's definitely weird, nothing logical could explain that away.

lt really freaked him out.   The cigarette was the same brand his dad smoked, and he swore that there were no fags in the house they'd thrown them away.

Two years ago, the same friend and I had to attend the funeral of another friend's husband.  He died in his sleep.  On the drive from the church to the  venue where they were holding a get together, we drove down these deserted country lanes.   Suddenly, the car was filled with the smell of cigarette smoke, it was really strong.  I was like...."Can you smell that, or is it just me?"   My friend could smell it too.  It lasted as long as the drive then disappeared.   The man who died worked for a cigarette company.

 I feel that's you mum's little message to.you.

I have a small stone on the shelf in the dining room which says i.love you on it.  Last summer,  my hub walked through the room and I heard a clunk. I thought what was that.  When I looked the stone was laying on the carpet just where he had passed.  We were talking about his.mum who passed a couple of years ago!

Some things just can't be explained, and even if you put them down to coincidence, they still don't make sense.
Some people would never believe your husband's mum was sending a message, some would say the things Digger has said are just peoples imagination working overtime.

Nothing can be proven, but personally I think it's comforting when these little 'messages' happen.

Could it have been secretly placed by your husband to give you comfort on your Mam's birthday?

It seems like someone who loves very much you would do that.

That's a lovely thought JD, I don't think he did, but he does always say, when I find a white feather in an odd place...'Your mums been'.

My mum went to see a spiritualist years ago and the woman got in touch with her dad.

Now what freaked my mum out was the spiritualist kept saying my Granda is saying "Yer Ma" because my Granda was Irish and that's what he always said and there was no way the spiritualist could have known that.

Another strange thing...

My dad came from a big family, he was one of eight children and needless to say there was loads of grandchildren and the thirteenth grandchild was stillborn.

A coincidence or maybe the number thirteen really is unlucky.

Something else that was weird...

My Godmother's mum was a twin and the day her twin brother died from a heart attack the family went to tell her and found her collapsed from a massive stroke.

We went along to a spiritualist church couple of years ago.  The guy looked at me and said, I've got a lady here who died of breast cancer.   yep, that was my mum.   Then he said, "You thinking of moving house?  You've been talking about it in the car and getting your passports sorted and seeing a solicitor?"   Yep.  All bang on.  Apparently, mum was in the car with us all the way to the venue.  Good job we kept the convo clean!!!   There were other things he said that were spot on.  He couldn't have known.

Then he said, "I've got your father in a law here."  I said, "Which one?"  He said, "The one from Liverpool.  He loved you, you know.  Better than his own son."    Yep.  I got on with him very well and he held me in high affection.  I was broken hearted when he died and sobbed at the graveside for ages.  He lived in Liverpool.    Everything he told me that day was right on the ticket.  I'd never met the guy in my life, nor he me.

By same score, I've been to some crap mediums who talked a pile of shite.

The same thing happened to me and my sister we were driving to another town's spiritualist church and the car started to make a noise so we stopped and looked to see if anything was caught in the wheels etc and could see nothing, we drove on as we were very close.  The medium looked at my sister and said your grandad is here and he said when you stopped the car on the way here he got under ( he was a mechanic) to take a look and you drove off leaving him there.      Said a few other really spot on stuff about my grandad.

He also said he has a lady here who is bent double and newly passed, my sister's friend had not long passed and she had spondylitis and her spine had fused into the sitting position so if she ever stood up she was bent double.

Many other things throughout the years were for me personally that made my jaw drop   but for some reason, my sister messages stuck with me most, maybe because I could listen without  everyone looking at me directly and was more relaxed etc

Whoa. It might be more accurate to say 'the woman claimed she'd got in touch with her dad'.
