He was cleared to fly to and play in Australia. That's why he flew there. When he got there, the rules were changed and they said he had the wrong visa.
The Aussies moved the goalposts and now have him in a detention center being guarded.
He's an odd cat, but he didn't do anything wrong. He asked for an exemption, got it, and when he landed was whisked off to a camp..
If I were him, I'd tell Australia to go fuck themselves and turn me loose to fly home. He's got nothing left to prove, and if he wants more victories, he can do it in countries that respect freedom a bit more. Like maybe China.

The Australians are saying he doesn't meet the exemption requirements.
I should think if he remains unvaccinated for no valid medical reason, Australia won't be the only country who won't want him there.
Obviously, he will be welcomed back here when Wimbledon starts...we let anyone in.

Initially he was granted an exemption. That's why he went.
Australia has screwed this up.
And they have treated their citizens like serfs since this whole thing started.
And at this point, with so many triple jabbed getting covid anyway, what's the point?
I dont know the ins and outs of Djokovic v Australia, but they have been very strict with their Covid rules.
As far as I know, he claimed to be excempt, but when he arrived, he couldn't show proof.
I take your point about triple still jabbed getting infected....but at least, according to the figures, the majority are not ending up needing hospital treatment.

More details released...It seems the disagreement is between the Australian government and Tennis Australia, but it gets even more complicated because it's now claimed the rules were changed in November....long before Djokovic claims he had Covid, which was apparently his medical reason for being exempt from vaccination.
"Novak Djokovic was originally granted a vaccine exemption to enter Australia because he contracted Covid-19 last month, his lawyers have claimed.
In court documents published on Saturday, his legal team stated that the Serbian recorded a positive test on December 16, and has "not had a fever or respiratory symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 72 hours".
But according to his legal team, Djokovic was provided with a letter from the Chief Medical Officer of Tennis Australia recording he had a medical exemption from Covid vaccination."

Yes. While he is no doubt an odd character, he did exactly what he was told to do by the Australian Tennis organization. When he arrived, he was told that the rules were different than what he was told.
"World tennis number one Novak Djokovic appears to have been photographed with young players the day after his lawyers said he tested positive for COVID-19."

He's run out of excuses!
Great player - total knobhead.
