Some of these laws are fascinating....but some of our own have never been updated or scrapped either.

Absolute fucking areshole of a day. Van started playing up after the first 5 miles, call to Depot and they were like just keep it going until the end of the day. Like fuck I thought, this is not going to work, I need a new rig. Get to my first drop and there’s a big dog trying to look hard in the driveway, so I reverse out and open the back, grab the package and throw it at the driveway. But this time I’d had fucking enough. Moved down the lane to the next batch of houses and the crunch came and the shit cunt van came to a complete halt. Couldn’t go any further so I delivered to the houses on that lane by hand and called up the depot to say come and fucking get me. Two hours later they turned up and I was towed back to base just in time for home time. Bit of traffic on the way back so I stopped into McDonald’s for a double big Mac and fries.

The fact the sheriff overseeing the hanging was a white woman and the prisoner was a young black man, intensified the public and press interest in the case.

Rainey Bethea was charged with raping and murdering a 70 year old white woman and under Kentucky law at the time a conviction for murder would result in execution at the local prison but a conviction for rape carried death by public hanging, which would satisfy the townsfolk and their thirst for vengence so the prosecution only charged him with rape.

He was found guilty and between 10,000 and 20,000 turned up to watch the execution
