Add a weeks shopping up, and it's putting a good few £££ on every shop.
Come the Autumn, when household and fuel prices rocket again...I think a lot of people are going to be really struggling.

It seems there's been a lot of first time shoplifters arrested, with dods of cheese, baby milk and even pork chops now having security tags on them.

Got all sort of shoplifting when I worked in shops.

The clothes shop was ram raided a few times, then you had folk with carrier bags lined with kitchen foil because it sometimes stops the tag setting off the alarm.

The bargain store was a lot worse, even had someone with a knife one day threatening people.

Other people even opened the cans of ginger and sweets and ate them off the shelves.

Stock taking was a nightmare due to all the stuff that had been stolen/written off.

That was years ago so I imagine it's a lot worse now.

The clothes shop sent me on a window dressing course, so if anyone needs their windows done...

When I left school, I really wanted to be a window dresser for fashion stores, it never came to pass.

I still think it would be a great job to have.

It was good Syl, i enjoyed it.

Christmas was my favourite theme because there was so much you could add to the window.

It was very fussy that shop, everything had to be just so.

Used to have to make sure all the jumpers measured 15 inches on the shelf, all the coat hangers had to be going the same way, no finger marks on the rails etc.

I love fashion, creating a scene in a window must be very rewarding, especially around Christmas time when there is so much happening.

The one shop display that I used to hate was Benetton...I was always scared of disturbing their neatly folded stock.

That clothes shop i worked in was ridiculous. Like I said they got ram raided a few times and thousands of worth of goods stolen but the big bosses kept refusing to put grates over the Windows because it would "ruin the look" at night.

Got them eventually when the insurance company lost patience.

M&S have been selling afternoon tea or coffee with cake....for £3, if you go after 3pm.
Before then it's about £6.
The selection of cakes are nice too.

Calvin Bassey the man has been a revelation, quite marvellous in fact.

He was signed for a mere £250,000 and it looks like he's going to be sold for around £22 million.

I shall miss him but what with that money and the money the Gers got for reaching a European Final last season, Big Douglas has no excuse not to splash the cash.
