More like shrimp or prawns.

They are pretty much interchangeable in many Cajun dishes..

One could have shrimp or crawfish ettoufe.

Or a shrimp boil.

In fact they sometimes mix them in the same pot..

This is one variation, and there's a lot depending on which Cajun you're talking too..

It used to be kind of a poor man's food that you never saw much out of Louisiana or East Texas.

Now it's very popular and consequently far from inexpensive any more.

There's also a season which is basically the spring as they loose their shells and grow a new softer one that you can actually open with your hands. By summer their shells are too hard and you can't really eat them.

It was cold here today, 13c, (55f) but the wind was chilly.
Drove out to garden centre for plants....had lunch inside not out....too cold.
Came home, phoned a friend, played scrabblw with OH.
Played online weekly quiz with grandson and partner...came last we started the quiz in lockdown, and have carried it on.

That was my day...pretty ordinary, suits me.

I moan a lot about the Manchester weather...I love the heat, and used to be really envious of the posters on the Dallas Digest forum, when they all talked about the hot weather they were enduring.

But like with everything, there is a downside to extreme weather.

We have a modest climate and are surrounded by water, so there should never be a problem.

Odd though then, that we sometimes get hosepipe bans if we have had one dry summer month...

I suspect that's down to bad management rather than the actual weather though.

The really hot weather gets old. And it's dangerous.

Now spring and fall are great because that's warm weather. When your still getting cold, nasty shit, we have nice temps.

Today it will be 20 degrees warmer than Athens, Greece and about 5 degrees warmer than Cairo, Egypt.

Anything over 100f is too much, even for me.

Today we have had 62...but the wind is still very cold. Further South (London way) it'll be beautiful no doubt....Manchester and further north always lags behind.

Hottest place we have been was Italy a few years ago...they were having a heatwave, it was well over 100f on a few days in succession.

It helps with my weight. I like food. I don't eat a lot of junk, but I don't count calories either. When I hit 50 a "few" years back I had a harder time with my weight.

So I go 24 hours at least once if not twice a week without any calories.

I feel good, I'm active and I don't get harpooned near the water.

So it seems to be helping.

Sounds a bit drastic to me...24 hours is a long time.

I often just drink a cup of tea, and glasses of water till around 8pm, then I will have a meal.

The only time I go a full 24 hours if is I have an upset stomach...then I think it's good to have a 24 hour fast.

But if it works for you, and you dont get harpooned....

Well, you are asleep for 8 of it. We all usually fast about 10-12 hours. That's why that meal in the morning is called breakfast..

So basically, I skip breakfast and lunch one or two days a week..
