Three men and a teenager convicted of murdering a 'gentle and peaceful' student at a New Year's Eve party by viciously beating him unconscious and then throwing his body over a balcony have been jailed for life today.
A court heard William 'Billy' Henham's attackers also callously stripped him naked and doused him in bleach in a bid to 'cover their tracks' by destroying any forensic evidence.
Just a few hours before his brutal death, the 24-year-old had been seen 'singing, dancing and smiling' in a Brighton nightclub.
However, by dawn on January 1, 2020 he had been subjected to the 'sustained and significant' fatal assault involving punches, kicks, stamps, and even blows from a broken stair spindle, leaving him with 67 separate injuries.
This has to be one of the saddest stories I've read for a while. We know the world is a shitty place, but when you read the statement from his family it's so heart rending. What the hell is going wrong with us?
Horrific - the pain he must have suffered is unimaginable.
The world around us seems to be increasingly more feral with each passing day. But I still have to keep believing that for every one soulless deranged psycho we see/learn of, there are countless thousands of good harmless people just going about their lives.
Make it mandatory that all those convicted of murder get a 'Whole life tariff'
Why should some murders be deemed more serious than others, murder is murder.
Years ago when Glasgow's Razor gangs were getting out of control a Judge Called Lord Carmont had enough and started using the full force of the law when he sentenced those convicted of knife crimes.
Six months became ten years and it became known as 'Copping a Carmont' and suddenly slashing someone wasn't so appealing.
Maybe a full life term would deter people.
