Our weather isn't bad compared to many places.
We don't normally get extremes, and if we were a drier country, we wouldn't have all the beautiful lush countryside that we have.

Just come back from one of the canary isles....lovely weather, brown and arid land.....nowhere has it all.

We have quite a bit of flooding in this area now...it doesn't seem to have stopped raining for days.

I saw them pulling a sleigh not for from here years ago.

Loads of Children about 3-4 years old were lined up and down the street waiting for Santa and the look of sheer innocence and joy on their faces when they saw him, nearly had me greeting.

Rather them than me.

They didn't like the hot weather we occasionally get, and they were keen walkers, so no doubt the cold won't bother them much.

It looks really beautiful there though.

The North of Scotland is beautiful Syl, the only snags are the cold and the further north you go, Doric dialect kicks in.

I know that's good coming from me but it can be hard at times.

My best friend when I was younger came from Glasgow. Her accent was so strong, lots of people couldn't decipher what she was on about.

I could always understand her though.

Odd how you can live in a place for decades yet still retain the accent of your youth.

My dad's brother that moved to England when he was twenty still has a Scottish accent after fifty-four years there.

Just adopted a few English words.

He says batches instead of rolls, pop instead of ginger and yeah instead of aye.

Joey Barton the footballer started talking in a French accent a few days after arriving in France from England!!

My sister went to London for a weekend when she was younger, she came back with a cockney accent...silly cow.

I don't think you have to move far to see differences in the way some things are described.
Various districts around Manchester use different words to describe things. For eg, balm cakes can be tea cakes,or bunnies, or just bread rolls.

London is losing some of its language now thanks to immigrants. We still use it though. We Londoners know no different tbh.
