For instance there were begging threads on DS in the past - people running out of electricity etc - and quite a few did give by PayPal. Hobbit used to make it known she did.
Yes I probably would, especially if I had known them a while and they were in trouble. I’m not rich but I’m very comfortable, so I see it as a moral obligation. Talk is cheap, action counts.

I was on a really well run forum once, the owner did ask for donations, he was going through a really bad patch at the time.
I donated a few quid and bought something off him too...figured I used the forum as a hobby, and hobbies can often cost money, he was asking for very little.

I thought I would save money by buying cross stitch thread by the bundle off Amazon.
DMC thread can cost £2.30 a go and sometimes you need fifteen threads or more for a project it quickly mounts up.

Hobbies can be expensive Vita, I have spent literally thousands of pounds over the last 25 years searching for vintage lace, intricate embellishments, silk flower and so on, not to mention the basics like card stock, paints, etc.
God knows how much some hobbies like golf or travelling to see your teams play cost. Spending money on stuff you enjoy doing (hobbies) is money spent well....life is about enjoying the things you do.

My dad feels guilty sometimes when he buys paints for his hobby but he doesn't go out anymore or anything so why not spend it on something that he likes.
My mum isn't arty but she'll say so and so has a new book out but it's ten pounds, well just get it then i'll tell her.

People sell off bundles of thread on Ebay. Pretty cheap too.
