Earthquakes occur when stresses build up in the underlying Earth's crust.  The greater the stress the large the earthquake.  Fracking releases stress in the underlying rock - causing smaller tremors.  Without it you would get larger tremors / earthquakes but interspersed by greater time intervals.

So numerous earth tremors in the areas where fracking has just began is nothing to be concerned about.

 No.

We have them here too..

Its not like the earth opens up and swallows people. On rare occasions, while the drilling is going on, some folks feel a slight tremor.  Like during a thunder storm.

It's not a big deal.

It was a big enough deal to stop fracking here.

But now, as the new PM has said,  it'll start again, so we will see.

Screaming ninnies get shit stopped all of the time. You post almost daily about the woke mob on here.

Doesn't mean it was a big deal.  It just wasn't worth fighting about if you can buy it cheap enough somewhere else.

Now you cant..

I think, if concerns are raised, they have to be looked into, preferably by people who have no agenda either way.

After that has happened, and if it proves to be safe, and if the fracking isn't breaking up local communities, then it should go ahead.

That's not being 'woke', it's being sensible.

Most people don't know anything about anything.  People seem to forget that the foundations of Western Philosophy begins with "I know that I know nothing".  From that point forward it gets tricky and assumptions have to be introduced to progress.

Bertrand Russell quote: The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.

That was done 15 years ago. The woke propagandists prevailed, like they often do.

I know fracking is safe and that relying on unfriendly countries for fuel is causing a great deal of suffering in the UK amd Europe.

I know it's needless, and irresponsible.

I think the safety concerns regarding fracking are over-stated especially as regards unleashing earthquakes.

These clowns will be showing up again.

Maybe Greta will lead them?

If they are being taught in schools, colleges and universities that fossil fuels are going to lead to catastrophic climate change and mass extinction then one can understand their passion.  Same with all the marches in Britain following Floyd George - which was presented to them as more important and pressing than the lockdown.

Maybe they should march in Russia if they want to stop the production of gas and oil?

Three is nothing moral about saying you can't produce a dirty product in your own country but can buy it from another.

In the case of Russia, it empowered Putin for years.

Same goes for the Arab countries that treat women and homosexuals like shit.

The moral position is to create that product at home and quit sending the money to tyrants. At least until alternative sources of energy can take over.

I'll add a little more. The Russian military machine that invaded Ukraine was paid for in a large part by Europeans and Brits that would rather buy Russian gas instead of producing their own.

Most countries have to buy stuff from shitty regimes because it makes economic sense.

But buying gas from Russia isn't really cheaper than producing your own. Its just a way of pretending to be "green" or some shit.
