Here is an article I read this morning. One, because it interests me and I like to keep abreast of what's happening around the world, and two because we are having similar issues over here.

My income is down to less than half it was just a few months ago.

I'm struggling. Friends are struggling. We want it to end, but we also know it's not going to any time soon for a myriad of reasons.

However, one of those reasons isn't greed, but one most likely is, people thinking it is.

That's why I'm frustrated at times. I'm paying more for everything while doing it with less income, while people are defining the problem completely wrong.

The majority of people (apart from the greedy bastards that you don't seem to acknowledge)  are paying more and earning less.

Eg....throat spray from Boots, cost around £4, the other week I bought one at £8...same product, double the price, and this from one of the most respected retailers in the UK.

The assistant even commented this was the last one in stock....obviously old stock, so why double the price?

Magnify that a million times....that's why I think retailers are using the recession to line their own pockets.

Most people are not earning less, not over here. The wage price spiral is real. Their purchasing power is less.

I'm more than willing to look at figures that demonstrate higher profit margins than usual.

I just never see them. I hear anecdotal comments by people stating they are behind price increases..

Or in the event they are real, no one wants to look at how they offset previous losses, which is how a business survives.

Let's say we were taking an economics test. The question lays out certain actions taken by politicians and a central bank. After these actions were taken, the economy saw an uptick in inflation.

If you're being tested on how and why those actions led to inflation, I can assure you that saying "it's the greedy bastards" isn't the correct answer.

But it's often the one politicians want to hear.

But politicians aren't educators. They don't really want you to know a lot of things because it makes their job more difficult.

Well Boots made an extra 4 quid from me than they should have , on ONE item. bored

I know everything has cost more to buy, the price of food and household goods seem to be increasing daily  ..one of the main reasons for the price rises was blamed on spiralling petrol costs ..petrol has now dropped sharply, prices have not.

Things don't have to cost more. Many things don't. And for those that have increased, the level of that increase varies dramatically.

Petrol costs didn't cause global inflation. They are a result of it. They too will fluctuate based on supply, demand, fiscal and monetary policy.

I have never heard of Ocado, how does it work?

You visit the website, book a time slot, order and they deliver for free.

Free is good, I pay Asda £1.75 per delivery, but I am happy with the service they provide.
