Becoming a member of a forum (any forum) brings with it far more freedom.
Freedom of speech, respect, opportunity to be known in their own right and to stand by their views.
Not joining a forum and preferring to post anonymously, guests are at the mercy of mods/admin, as to how long their posts will lie unread till someone decides to activate them. that's even if they are activated at all.
It can't be disinterest, if it was, guests wouldn't be reading the forum, much less posting on it in the first place.
Probably an element of laziness on my part tbh, it means getting another Email address for forum use only… and I cba as I don’t post often enough anymore!…. more of a reader these days… but, never say never… it could all change!

I hope it does one day...we used to have such a laugh on the old forums..

So is it laziness, cowardice, or something else?
It seems to bother you a lot. Either get rid of guest. Or tell Digger you will no longer mod the whine section and it's up to her. Or just stay out of the whine which was started to allow guest posting.
I'll post here as long as there is guest posting. You are as anonymous to me as I am to you

You seem to think guest posters are either lazy or cowards. If you don't want people like that around why have this section at all?

I simply asked a question...one that you seem to find unable to answer.
This section has always been here, it was part of the forum long before I was a mod.
I have no problem with guest posting per se. I have zero respect for people who use it anonymously to verbally abuse others, that's when it becomes cowardly.
In summary both dogs and CM are too small. I prefer not to personalize and "socialize". I arrived onto dogs from digital spy when DS moderation became more and more restraining. It allowed guest posting and there was a thread to discuss DS. Later I started getting "harrassed" by a few individuals and that eventually led me to realize that dogs was affected by personalities and people that knew each other and would have "fights" between each other and co-opt me in that imagining me to be this person or that person posing as a guest. Through that interaction I learnt about CM and found I could guest post here also in the whine - and used that space to discuss issues with dogs. Then I came to the conclusion that both dogs and CM are part of the "same" small community. There is a lot of interesting knowledge and experience here with regard to the early days of "social media" but whenever I tried to broach that subject people revealed themselves not to be particularly interested in that discussion and then it got back to personalization / socialization / fighting.
ps the other thing that put me off actually joining was people telling me and people talking about how certain individuals would dox people - people apparently running websites and with administrative rights. So I had thought about becoming a member in order not to take up time for the moderators having to process every one of my posts - but then the doxing talk scared me off. Now I have rationalized it as these two sites being too small and me not wanting to socialize - I am only interested in discussing socio-political ideas in a neutral manner as well as making use of peoples knowledge and experience to learn about things or at least get a second opinion to test out my own understanding of certain things.
pps I am a member of several forums - forums that I find interesting enough to post in and that DON'T have guest posting - and are particularly large enough that I don't have to "socialize".

Most forums have people who have known each other as posters. That doesn't mean to say we like each other or give a shit about each other or that either of those facts matter. It is what it is.
Reading between the lines.....The triggered guest is spineless with no friends and no social life and lives to abuse people online to make up for its feelings of inadequacy...

For all we know, you could be that guest, posting abuse at yourself. Ah, the wonder of anonymous posting.

Your "voice" sounds familiar. I think you told me on dogs that dogs had become a place for trolls. I think it was also you that told people on DS that they were being spoken about on dogs and it was that led me to dogs. I also think you're the one that I am often accused of being meaning we probably live in the same area.

It's the first time I have ever asked the question.
