You have to remember that not everyone would take kindly to any kind of protest, and that in itself could have led to things kicking off. To protest peacefully during any other time might have been different, but it was deliberately provoking to do this at the actual coronation. And these people knew it. So, no....they don't have a right to be provoking and incite trouble.

I don't agree...if people don't take kindly to protesters, they can protest themselves....that's what happens in a free country. To allow one group of people to dictate to another who should be allowed to protest and who should not, smacks of mob rule.
The police have also said, (covering their tracks imo) many other groups protested yesterday and were left to do so....seems they just took against one particular group.

For the reasons I've outlined. If it had all kicked off and someone got hurt, then the police would have been damned about that too. These days its not just about free speech. It's about disruption, puerile rantings and disrespect. If I missed the funeral of a loved one because some protesting eco arsehole blocked the road I'd be fucking fuming. Protestors can protest but they can't disrupt or put in danger law abiding people going about their business.

That was in answer to your previous posts that seemed to think all protests would have led to trouble, obviously not the case.

And the police arresting some and let others protest means nothing. Perhaps the ones they arrested were more loud and arsey, confrontational or with track records for inciting trouble, in which case they deserve all they get.

It's not OK to cause public affray, to incite aggro or antagonise the public. Like it's not OK for those muslim preachers to stand in Hyde Park and spout their hate. They should be arrested too. The police were given more powers so they exercised them, so what? Tough shit if you got in the way for being a public nuisance and pain in the arse.

If they did this more the world might be a nicer place to live in. I'm sick to death of seeing this unnecessary hatred and discord being nurtured and allowed to flourish. This crowd of clowns wouldn't dare do this in any other country. And they certainly wouldn't wave placards outside a mosque screeching, 'No to Sharia Law' 'No to halal meat' 'No to arranged marriages.'

We have laws, it's not up to police to take the law into their own hands...we are not a police state.

Women still wouldn't have the vote if no one protested...men could still legally rape their wives if no one protested, practicing gays could be arrested and jailed if no one protested, there would be no equal rights at all if people had not protested.

Could you see white people protesting about Mosques, illegal immigrants, no they would be arrested. I agree in peaceful protests, but why dont republicans go and live in Russia, America, China etc, if they like it so much. Also Eco protesters stop cars, stop people going work, caused so much trouble, are they right ? Why arn't they arrested. I'm sick of them all tbh. Protest about everything except illegals, they wouldn't get away with big banners in Dover!

That's the thing, isn't it? Anyone going against the woke leftie agenda can't protest. We've had people arrested for praying in the street. Then we have so called mullah's spouting hate without the police batting an eye. It makes people angry. The police should just do their job without prancing around in rainbow jackets or showing bias. They're not there to be your mate. They are there to keep law and order. If a mob is being provocative and inciting unrest they should be moved or if they won't, then be arrested. Who in their right mind travels half way across England to wave a banner saying Not My King? How exactly is their life impacted by monarchy? Nada. It makes no sense. The only logic is they are doing it for the same reasons most of these clowns disrupt society....they've got nothing better to do and it brings a little excitement into their dull lives.

You aren't seriously suggesting that the right to protest has not brought about changes in laws and social behaviour?

The Metropolitan police have apologised to six protestors they prevented from joining the protests, Police have released all the arrested protestors without charge.

The Mayor of London is initiating an enquiry as to why the police prevented the right for people to protest peacfully.

Oh a lady who was in the Mall said one of them near her, had rape alarms and paint. He deserved to be arrested! If he had set them off, horses could have reared up, causing unknown mayhem and panic. Disgusting. One was a sex offender. These were agitators, who turn up at any protest to cause trouble!

Agitators did this in Victorian days. Also rich students from Universities wanting to cause trouble. Victoria was shot at afew times. Always have anti monarchies, but these want to cause mayhem and death if they can.

The three people arrested for carrying rape alarms are from an organisation that hands them out to women for protection.

"Westminster City Council officials said they are "deeply concerned" by reports women's safety volunteers were arrested hours before the Coronation.

The Met said at about 02:00 BST on Saturday three people were arrested in Soho on suspicion of conspiracy to commit public nuisance.

Among items seized were a number of rape alarms, the force said.

The Met said it "received intelligence" people "were planning to use rape alarms to disrupt the procession".

Two women, 37 and 59, and a man, 47, were taken to a south London police station where they were questioned.

The man was further arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods, the force said.

All three have been released on bail pending further inquiries."Aicha Less, cabinet member for communities and public protection at Westminster City Council, said: "We are deeply concerned by reports of our Night Stars volunteers being arrested overnight.

"This service has been a familiar and welcome sight in the West End for a long time and have extensive training so they can assist the most vulnerable on the streets late at night.

"We are working with the Metropolitan Police to establish exactly what happened, and in the meantime, we are in touch with our volunteers to ensure they are receiving the support they need."

A spokesperson for Sadiq Khan said: "Whilst an investigation into the incident is still ongoing, the mayor has urgently sought clarity around the circumstances which culminated in the arrest of three Westminster Night Watch volunteers on Friday evening.

"The Mayor remains in close contact with the Met's senior leadership."

They arrested something like 96 people, most of whom were agitators. If any other protesters got caught up with that, tough shit. They had one guy who had several cans of paint. The interview with the woman I saw said that those horses were massive, 16 hands upwards and if one them had gone apeshit it would have seriously hurt people. The guy with the paint was right next to her. Anyone who knows anything about horses knows how disastrous it can be when they panic. So if the police erred on the side of caution, that's fine by me. Better that and arrest a handful of outraged idiots than have a serious incident where people get hurt. All that got hurt here were feelings.

If you asked any single one of those 'protesters' how the monarchy impacts on their lives how would they answer? They'd have no fucking answer. They just love to hate. Which seems to be prevalent right now with those who wanted to spoil what is an historical once in a life time event thousands wanted to enjoy. Why the hell are we all bothered what a minority think regarding hurt feelings and pearl clutching outrage?

The Metropolitan Police commissioner has claimed officers had to target a "criminal network" during the coronation, which included people posing as stewards - who were caught with bottles of paint they intended to throw at the parade.

Sir Mark Rowley claimed police had received intelligence that people planned to use rape alarms and loud hailers to disrupt the coronation, "extensively vandalise monuments" and "throw paint at the procession".

His defence of the police operation comes after six anti-monarchy protesters from the campaign group Republic who were arrested during the coronation were released without charges being brought against them.

Writing for the Evening Standard, Sir Mark described the arrests as "unfortunate" - but said it was "frustrating that there are things we are unable to share".

Good for them. Yes sometimes innocent ones get caught up with the guilty. I would rather that than see anyone panic the horses, throw paint etc, that could have been devastating! I'm sick of the protesters tbh!
