Regardless of what you think of either of these two guys, this is some pretty important viewing.
They shape our world.
And if you watch the entire show from last night (which I highly recommend), you can watch Konstantin Kisin from the UK too.
I've always found Musk interesting but to be honest a chat show interview like that can only fall a little flat because of the amount of UTube stuff he does.
There was nothing about much there to be honest regarding AI etc etc... nothing about much at all really.
Batteries cars AI hyperloop space X... bugger all.
Back in the day, I used to hang onto pretty much every word Maher uttered.
Now though, I find myself either still cheering him on and then I’m suddenly jeering at his OTT both-sides thing he so often does. He’s really overdoing the hard-on he has about ‘woke/wokism’, imo. I’m not saying I disagree with everything he says on this issue, but it’s way too much exaggeration and piss-taking which only serves to ramp up the triggering BS going on, and sows even more division.
Musk was surprisingly coherent and friendly, but I can’t stand him, so I’ll leave it there. Not sure about Kisin. His latest book seems like it’s worth a read though.
Can‘t do links here so, ICYMI, here’s just one of many Maher truths that had me cheering from the rafters, especially from around 1 minute in … on YouTube: New Rule - The Big Liars - Bill Maher Real Time. Hard not to laugh at, or disagree with, any of that!

I think his piss taking on wokeism is just a reflection of how crazy it's gotten. There has been a groundswell in the past 5-7 years. I think he spends a great deal of time pointing out the obvious, because the obvious is up in our face constantly.
Musk is on the spectrum. He's a but weird like most super intelligent people like that. But he does make things happen in this world.
I follow Kisen on his YouTube channel. He's pretty funny and astute. He has that perspective that immigrants bring and I admire.
So I watched the big liars. He's right about how congress works. Repeating the correct lie gets you reelected to one of the best gigs on the planet.
He mentions Nancy Mace at the end.
To both of their credit, he had her on the show a few months later with one of those gay, Brit fellows (is there really any other kind?). 😉
It certainly is a sweet gig - no wonder useless geriatric farts like Feinstein & Grassley insist on greedily clinging on, at 90 years of age!
Nancy Mace is a super-thirsty social climber - she’s guaranteed to show up at the opening of an envelope. BUT, unlike those Boebert & MTG halfwitted screechers, she’s sharp, coherent, and at least seems willing to participate in the process and actually work on representing her District.
Gotta hand it to you, Dawg - American politics has been a rollercoaster ever since Papaya Pol Pot came down that golden escalator with his add-to-cart bride. More fascinating than any soap opera ever aired. For you guys, it must kinda be like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates.

He certainly has made me shake my head. I understood the initial interest in him. He was different and outside the mainstream. But by 2018 or so I figured folks would realize that experiment wasnt working. By now, one would think he would be cast off and left to fade away. Instead, the crazy fucker will likely win the republican nomination. Republicans used to be the educated and informed party. Now they are controlled by a small, but insane majority.
Our primary system is broken quite frankly. Not enough people participate and shitty people win.
Collectively, the US population doesn't want to see Trump vs Biden again, but the small numbers of primary participants will likely give us those two.
One would think a third party would arise from this disaster. But the two major parties do occasionally agree, and keeping a pesky third party from challenging is one of those areas.
(@Syl/Diggs - last post in this thread, promise! Don’t want to outstay my welcome)
@ MD…I like Biden - he seems to have good intentions and was a timely bridge from catastrophic chaos to class and relative calm. It’s undeniable that - against all obstructive odds - he managed to notch up some pretty impressive wins. But I don’t think he should run again, because it’s not unreasonable to assume that he might not make it through a second term. Which would give you President Kamala who, imv, is unqualified and just not up to the job. Plus, can you imagine the MAGAs collectively losing their shit over a black woman in the Oval?! They still have the trauma of Obama living rent-free in their heads!
You'll probably be glad I’m not an American voter But if I were, my ideal would be a Newsom/Ossoff Dem ticket.

Biden isn't a bad guy. He's just too old and Kamala will never be equipped for that job. She wasn't qualified to be a Senator.
I think the race issue is overblown. MAGA folks think Biden is a commie and would support Ben Carson in a NY minute if Trump told them to.
