Very wet here yesterday in the afternoon but dry for long enough in the morning to take Shorty a walk.

We met our new friend, a man in his eighties.

Only got to know him a few months ago, gone from "Good morning" to wee chats.

Those 10 degrees are a big deal..

Temps here are warming up...22c today, still mostly cloudy.
We desperately need some sun before Autumn comes.

113F is the hottest temp I've ever experienced.  We might get there today..

Also I don't remember ever seeing 3 days in a row at 110F and above..

Our electric grid is straining like hell. We keep adding people and houses that need AC and it's hard to keep up.

If it breaks, there's going to be millions of unhappy people and probably hundreds if not thousands of dead people.

The ratio of sun to dark gloom here today is ONE minute of hot sun....just to show us what it COULD be like....then 35 minutes of dark cloud.

This is the worst summer I have ever known. cry

 We need a hurricane..

Not a crazy big one, but a Cat 1, chugging up through Texas..

The other problem is we are still a state with a great deal of agriculture. Livestock and crops need rain. They die without it. Ever read about our dust bowl? We don't need that sort of drought again.

We are also seeing fires popping up everywhere now..

Summers in Texas are rough but it's usually broken up with a cooler day here and there. An occasional shower or thunderstorm.

This has been relentless and we are just over it.

Well, it's good that you are at last getting to the end of it.

The weather is getting extreme in some places...Global warming...or mans stupidity?? probably a bit of both.

It's crazy.  My brother is flying to see his son in San Diego for a week.

San Diego probably has the best weather in the US. Mid 80sF for months at a time.  Winters are 60-70F for highs..

Enough rain to keep everything green..

And in two days they will get their first hurricane in 84 years.  🤷‍♂️

Maybe 84 years ago the weather was as unpredictable as it is now...it does tend to go in cycles.
Here we have had lots of flooding over the last few years...changes in weather patterns?? or is it that lots of the flood plains have been built on to provide the ever-increasing need for houses.

San Diego weather sounds perfect...I have to go abroad to get the sort of weather that suits me.

Yeah, it has a Mediterranean climate, at least right on the coast.

California has weird ecosystems in that climate changes quite a bit as you get inland as the mountains are up against the coast.

My nephew is inland, and it will be hotter and drier than the coast.

People in LA can drive about 3 hours and go snow skiing in the winter, when it's quite warm in LA..

While I love Texas, California has the best weather and most diverse weather and landscapes in the US.

That's why it's astounding at how many people are leaving California for Texas.

How bad has the government got, that people are leaving the best weather in the country, to live in a place with floods, tornadoes and deadly heat and the occasional arctic cold front?
