I think you should go to the beach and sit under an umbrella and sip a cool drink. 😎🍸

 It'd blow away.

It must be an age thing, me and OH were going out for a meal...(my grandson calls it our 'date night') lolit's just so cold, dark and miserable, we are staying in and having pizza instead,

Don't sit under a brolly but quite often go to the beach and eat in all kinds of weather.

Beaches can be far more exciting when the weather's wild.

Which is why I suggested wintering on the Texas Coast. 😎

Maddog, if I cant be arsed to get ready and go out for a meal, the chances of me flying half way across the world are very slight.

It's possible, but Brownsville is a long way from where I live.

My weather is often very different than the coast..

Take your pick.

There is no doubt your climate is hotter and sunnier, which I would love.

What I wouldn't love is the extreme variances  you have, boiling one day, freezing the next night....we have a more temperate climate. Our summers are not stifling hot, they are pleasant.

I remember when I was on the DD forum, most of the posters moaned all the time about the hot muggy summer temperatures, some actually envied me, living in little old England.wink

 Yes.

The Met Office has issued two yellow warnings for snow covering Wales, the Midlands, Yorkshire, the North East, North West and the east of England, for Thursday and Friday. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/uk-snow-warning-met-office-weather-latest-122100756.html

That's why I said you should winter here.

We call them snowbirds. They escape the cold every winter, and go back before it gets hot..

I may be a bit of a snowbird then...or the next best thing.

We usually have a couple of 2 week winter breaks, never to the US, more the Canaries. It's little over a 4 hour flight, and it's usually nice weather, mid high 20's in the winter months.

Maddog is your country ever going to catch up with the rest of the world and go metric?

The freezing point of water is 0 and the boiling point is 100 everything in between is easy to understand.

The forecasters warned of a 200-mile "band of rain, sleet, and increasingly snow" pushing north on Thursday. It could bring snow to huge parts of England, but later on during Thursday, snow will ease, and could turn back into rain and even drizzle - especially further south.

 Not in our lifetime.

I was taught the metric system in the 70s as a child because it was going to take over shortly.

I haven't seen a change in 50 years..

We use the metric system for a lot of things, but not distance, temperature or larger volumes..
