Raining all day and all tomorrow, so the weekend will be a complete washout here.
No nice weather forecast for all of next week either...I wish we could have just a little bit of the heatwave sweeping Europe,

Same here Syl, but unlike you I love rain happy

I really don't mind the rain. It's the horrible grey sky from morning to night I don't like.cry

The other day we actually closed the brolly and walked for ages in the rain...obviously I was on my way home, not on my way anywhere important.

Yes I love walking in the rain if not going anywhere nice, otherwise my hair goes so curly and fringe looks like a poodles fur! lol

The two main package airlines have cancelled all flights to Rhodes. They are sending empty planes over to transport the thousands of British holidaymakers, many of them evacuated from their hotels and are stranded on the beaches...and it's getting worse.

EasyJet and Ryanair, are so far, unbelievably still taking people out there. bored

They nearly always are. California has a bad habit of setting fire to its forests from shorting electric poles.

The weather doesn't really get hot enough for trees to self combust.

Australia was an exception but even some of those fires were deliberately started.

The ones that weren't were the overplanting of eucalyptus trees and the neglect in keeping them debris free.

Eucalyptus is a very flammable oil.

39-41 C for the next 15 days.

Once this shit sets in we are stuck with it until about September, unless we get a hurricane on the coast.

And it's sorta bad juju to hope for a storm that can kill people and destroy their homes. So I'll just deal with this shit for the next 6 weeks..

The forecast here for the next 2 weeks at least is the same as it has been, rain, cloud, low temps....with just a brief appearance of the sun to show us what we are missing.

Despite the fact that it's 16 degrees outside I've had a fire lit the last few hours as the house has had no sunlight and no warm air circulating for a few days now making the core temperature of the house quite chilly.
Bloody baking now!

Most fires in Greece were started ‘by human hand’,   https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/jul/28/greece-fires-arsonists-extreme-weather?mc_cid=6fa8a08ead&mc_eid=4961da7cb1  government says

Yes, in Oz they are always started by a spark, throwaway fag, or arson, etc.  Not global warming.🙄

August already!
2023 has to be the worst summer ever so far.
Wet and well below the norms temperature wise.
Looks like more of the same at least for another week.
