I get a tinge of anxiety just thinking about being stuck in a large beer can with 4 other people slowly running out of oxygen.

An implosion would be almost instant, but I think we would know if that happened, and that's doesn't appear to be what has happened ..

…or…maybe enough oxygen to keep 1 person breathing for 20 days?

Can’t help but wonder if such a thing may have - even fleetingly - crossed their minds at some point. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

It’s hard not to assume any other outcome, sadly.

If they have died, I hope it was as a result of the sub imploding. At least then, their deaths would have been mercifully quick.

Idiots on twitter!

They sent a robot sub down and found a lot of debris. Now sadly they say it must have imploded on the way down.

Well, that's probably better than the alternative of sitting there for days, likely going crazy, locked in a steel can..

Death would be almost instantaneous.

Obviously being rescued was the preferred outcome, but if that wasn't in the cards, whoosh, bang, lights out in two seconds ain't the worst way to go, even if it's far sooner than you like.

I agree, much better scenario than waiting to die. They wouldn't have known anything.
