About time! Knew it was him, think everyone did. He is going to resign, that means he keeps his pension. Bloody Bent Corporation looking after their own. Police not prosecuting either.
"In light of the recent reporting regarding the 'BBC Presenter' I am making this statement on behalf of my husband Huw Edwards, after what have been five extremely difficult days for our family.
"I am doing this primarily out of concern for his mental well-being and to protect our children.
"Huw is suffering from serious mental health issues. As is well documented, he has been treated for severe depression in recent years.
"The events of the last few days have greatly worsened matters, he has suffered another serious episode and is now receiving in-patient hospital care where he'll stay for the foreseeable future.
"Once well enough to do so, he intends to respond to the stories that have been published.
"To be clear Huw was first told that there were allegations being made against him last Thursday.
"In the circumstances and given Huw's condition I would like to ask that the privacy of my family and everyone else caught up in these upsetting events is respected.
"I know that Huw is deeply sorry that so many colleagues have been impacted by the recent media speculation. We hope this statement will bring that to an end."
I doubt he will get it....hiding behind his wife, as yet more allegations come to light.
He's got lots of presenters feeling sorry for him now including Pierce Morgan!! He is definitely playing the pity vote. I feel for the boy and his mother.
This was what I say at the start of #Peston tonight. It's on ITV at 10.45. As a journalist I have spent more or less my entire career weighing up stories by whether they are truly in the public interest or just interesting to the public. This has been on my mind a lot, following the allegations in the Sun newspaper about a BBC presenter and a young person, and a relationship between them that their parents alleged was harmful and possibly illegal. Tonight we heard from the Met Police that it had found no evidence of criminality. Shortly afterwards Vicky Flind made a public statement that the presenter is her husband, one of the most famous presenters in the country Huw Edwards, with whom I worked very closely when I was at the bbc. What few of you will know is that Vicky Flind is the editor of this show, and the person who created it with me - though she hasn't been involved tonight or at all this week. The Labour MP Jess Phillips tonight described Vicky as the nicest, kindest and most decent woman. I and everyone who works with me here would agree. It has been difficult to feel what she and her family have been going through - and to read her statement that Huw has been hospitalised with acute depression. None of this is to minimise complaints that have been made against Huw - or to ignore the suggestion that people and their families may have been hurt. I don't know exactly what he did, or why. The question however is whether - if it remains clear as the police say no crime was committed - there was a public interest in publishing the original story and in the subsequent coverage. Though at this point Vicky would tell me to get on with the show. So we will.
I think that we all need to take a step back to consider Hugh and his fanily.
My partner and i have been together for 23 years and it was pretty feisty for a few years involving fights and infidelity on his part.
There comes a point where you have to sit down together and decide whether we moved forward or not.We had that conversation and built up such a power house where i was lacking in some things he had better skills in otrher areas
think that life is really too short. I feel blessed that i have my life partner
It seems to me they're all hand in glove. No mention about the teen or the others and what Huw did, just pity for him. Makes me sick.
It's the age of these men who do this that's baffling. Do they go through some kind of mid life crisis and revert to being horny teenagers? That's the most unsavoury part....their age in relation to the people they 'flirt' with. There's no dignity in it and it reeks of desperation.

He could have been acting like this for many years, who knows?
Till someone is found out, they get away with it...a bit like the recent Philip Schofield drama.
The police say, so far, they haven't found any laws have been broken, if the Suns reporting was accurate, I am not sure how that works, but if he has broken no laws, I would think today's headline will be history soon.
What this does highlight, yet again, is the absolutely dire way the BBC operates, burying their heads in the sand till a drama becomes a great big crisis, dragging others along in it's wake.
I doubt he will get it....hiding behind his wife, as yet more allegations come to light.

I agree, the lad and his family are the victims here, and any other youngsters who got involved in his seedy lifestyle....and no doubt there will be some genuine ones speaking out now it's in the open.
But...given his wife (poor woman) has come forwards to do his dirty work for him, and given the fact that he is apparently suffering severe mental health problems, no doubt fuelled by guilt, maybe it is time for the press and public to let them get on with it privately.
Caroline Flack did wrong, she was hounded by the media and online abuse, she suffered the ultimate price for it. Schofield talked of suicide recently too, people can be pushed beyond limits sometimes.
ITV acted on Schofield fast, unlike the BBC, who cover everything up. They are a disgrace, so is Edwards.
Makes me wonder about other BBC presenters, correspondents who are backing him. 🤔
The BBC are a bloody disgrace.
This has all escalated because the BBC did sod all when they first heard of the allegations, they bury their heads in the sand, they certainly seem to protect the deviants amongst their ranks.

I think what bothers people is that if this dude had said there are only two genders and biological males can't breastfeed, the Beeb would have distanced themselves from him quickly.
Paying teens for pics isn't nearly as "problematic".
Who's worried about the anguish JK Rowling is going though for having normal fucking views?
Where does the Beeb stand editorially on her positions and the corresponding outcry from vociferous lunatics?
