Should Manchester United ignore the fact he was accused and charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling behaviour and assault, just because his girlfriend dropped the charges?
The recorded event, and photos of her beaten up face, are hard to forget.

Over here, you can't drop charges (it's a result of OJ. His wife kept dropping charges until he finally killed her)..
I never know what the right amount of punishment is in these cases.
Obviously, you can't go around hitting women, but how long do you punish a young man who like many, is prone to stupid reactions to God knows what?
My thought is you get one strike and we see if you learned something.
He has not been dropped by United, his future with them is still not publicly known yet. He has been paid £75.000 a week since last year when this became public.
Yes he is young, young people make mistakes, it seems the girl he was charged with sexually abusing and coercing has moved on with him, so maybe that should be the end of it all.
But should MU keep him on? I don't think they should. He blew it. He has enough money to start afresh. My opinion is he has forfeited the right to play for one of the most famous football clubs in the world, he is a bad example to young men, many of which copy their 'heroes'.
Man Utd put out a statement some time ago that they were considering putting him back in the squad because he hadn't been found guilty of anything. There was a backlash among about 20% of supporters and now they are going to get rid of him. Given this is all out in the public (images and audio) it seems that he will never play professional football again because sponsors won't accept it, a proportion of the fans won't accept it, rival fans will constantly bring it up, and so will the media.
Unless he comes out publicly and confesses to his sins (but none that will get him thrown into prison) and sets up some sort of foundation and becomes a campaigner against such abuse, then he is finished as a professional footballer.
"United and Greenwood have mutually agreed that his future will be away from Manchester United following the conclusion of the club's internal investigation.”
