He seems to think the allegations (if he is one of the people about to be named) concern his private life, he is loudly proclaiming that though he has been very, very promiscuous, all his relationships have been consensual.

IF any women are prepared to speak out and claim they were not consensual...should a person  not be named?,or are rapists, as long as they challenge societies rules, exempt from public disgrace?

 

Course, it could have nothing to do with him or his private life...we wont know till tonight.

 Do you think Assange raped anyone? He was accused by some folks in power of doing so. 

 

I could be way off, but Brand has been very vocal about calling out mainstream media, while getting some fairly high profile people to agree with him. He's an absolute thorn in their side. 

 

The "new" media people like him, are destroying what we call the dinosaur media.

 

The dinosaur media is trying to remain relevant. I think this is one way of doing it. Kill the messengers.

 I can't comment on Assange because I honestly haven't followed any news about him.

Brand may well be a thorn in some peoples sides, but IF he has done wrong, why shouldn't he now be challenged. I should think there is proof, else why would a respected programme risk their reputation?

I'm pretty sure they can still charge him here for rape if they want. It will be interesting to see if they want to try that, or are accusations without convictions enough to get these ladies justice?.

And you can simply Google Assange and rape to get up to speed on how he got charged in Sweden and how that case ended up.

But like any rock and roll star or celebrity of that type, they generally have plenty of people wanting to oblige their desires. 

And some of those people won't look back on what they did with fond memories of the event or their partner.

Take the case of the 16 year old. He shouldn't be messing around with a girl that young.  In fact it's illegal here. But she claims they had a 3 month relationship. She liked some part of that relationship for sure. 

And at 16, she's 2 years older than Priscilla Presley was when she started dating Elvis. 

Different times no doubt, but we also have different standards for people it seems..

 She was living with him at 16. 

Maybe she was a virgin. He and her were still engaged in adult activities including drug use that 16 year olds shouldn't be doing and would be considered a crime.

That doesn't excuse Russell fucking around with a 16 year old though. I wonder how many 16 year olds have been backstage at rock concerts? Doesn't make it right, but it's part of the culture.

 There's still something off about a 21 year old dating a 14 year old.

Russell Brand may have been a BBC most popular person once upon a time, but no more as he for some time has gone down the "alt-news" route using Youtube and other Social Media platforms to develop an independent, more critical voice.   Those that monitor such websites as the BBC know that for the next several years or so the public is going to be fed a diet of salacious headlines as the claims and maybe a court case or two rumble on until some sort of resolution is reached.  We had it with people like Donald Trump, Julian Assange, Christian Ronaldo, Benjamin Mendy, and more recently Luis Rubiales.

 Something untouchable about the suspect, gui;t, feeling it's your own fault, shame of having your name and your family's made public, fear of losing their job, stress of a trial, it's often the same story. Thereb are many well known reasons victims of sexual offences don;t come forward.

 I get that for a 16 year old but not for a grown woman.  All the above could just as easily be applied now.  It always seems odd to me that there's a sudden surge of accusations seemingly out of the blue all at once.  As though there's another mechanism driving it.  

I'm not a fan of Brand at all I think he's  a narcissistic prat.   But there's too much of this flinging accusations around via the media before any concrete proof is offered up and evidenced.   I think investigations at least initially should be done out of the glare of the media circus until a conviction can be made.
