I was surprised. He was funny and good acting on Friends. So sad when alcoholism gets a hold, drugs too. He went many many times to rehab apparently. You've got to want to stop, he said he just couldn't no matter what.
Alcoholics have an illness, still not really seen as such sadly.

Addictions can be helped, not cured really.
I have sympathy for people who can't control their addictions, probably more for the people who have to cope with them though.
