 I can't speak for Jack, but I do, and in my career as a dancer I met and had to deal with loads of them.  Most of them nice people on the whole.  But they were always muslims first.   One of my best friends has a muslim partner and he's a nightmare to live with.  Not because he's particularly horrible but because Islam and his misogynistic imprinting always comes before her welfare and happiness.  She was a dancer at the top of her game when she met him, but the minute she moved in with him he banned her from dancing.  Personally I'd have told him to fuck off, but she's not me.   She's been with him 15 years and most of that has been fraught because of his mindset.   

I used to have so many run ins with Arab musicians who either wanted to dominate me or get into my knickers.  They all, without exception, considered women, particularly non-muslim women, as inferior who should be put in their place.   It wasn't necessarily cave man tactics but it was still there one way or the other....this undercurrent of disdainful masculine toxicity.   I never stood for shit though, but it often cost me in a professional capacity as it was often the musicians who chose the dancer for gigs.

Having said all this, our Iraqi neighbour is the loveliest man totally under the thumb of his white non muslim middle aged wife.
