 Of course they would.  My grandkids have good jobs , except one who is .at school.  Why should they be called up, or any who work, at Uni etc.Stick the lazy benefit spongers in first with immigrants.

It was armies of greengrocers taxi drivers doctors jockey's bricklayers joiners engineers and so on ... mostly all conscripted.

It's understandable being worried about your own but that applies to all the other parents and grannies too.

 Yes I get that about worrying about kids, but what the hell are they fighting for, this country has gone.  It's not like it was years ago. WW1 was a travesty.  Those poor men and boys were cannon fodder, for the elite.  WW2 saw men coming home to nothing, no homes, lots of families bombed, and yet they fought because it was the right thing to do.    I wouldn't blame anyone not fighting now.

The list goes on because you live in one of the best countries on the planet despite the many problems.

It won't last many more years now because of the billionaires like Gates etc who have plans for this world and our prime minister and the opposition leader Kier Starmer are firmly on board with it all but it's  still a country worth fighting for so... get your knitting needles sharpened and get ready to fight!

I watched Masters of the Air, last night.  Really entertaining and the special effects depicting the bombers and aircraft was outstanding.  It really shows you how horrible it must have been to have to fly out again and again with death hanging over your head.  What strikes you most about it was the tender age of some of those WW2 airmen.   19 years old some of them.   Their bravery just tugs at the heart.   

My husband's grandfather died in a Lancaster bomber over France.   We always wondered how he and his crew didn't manage to ditch out but when you saw the reality of how those bombers went down and how quickly, you can understand why they all died.  

Wars are senseless, violent, horrible.   But what other option is there when your country and whole way of life is threatened?  Roll over and allow the enemy to take over, perhaps commit atrocities as seen in other wars where the enemy is victor?   Look to history for those answers.   When the Russians took Germany they raped and murdered their way through the country to the tune of 2 million people.  Educate yourself about the Nanking Massacre.   Do any of you suppose this can never happen here? 

If we don't fight, we fall.   And if we fall?   It  doesn't bear thinking about.

At the moment there is no law that says the government can conscript any of us so when you see them putting that in place that's the time to start worrying.

Why are our governments going out of their way to make getting here ever more attractive is the question that needs addressing I think.
