Brianna Ghey's mother is calling for a ban on children's access to social media after it was revealed her daughter's killer watched torture videos on the Dark Web.
Her mother, Esther, said she wants smartphones to be made available for under-16s without social media apps.
She is also campaigning for searches for inappropriate material to be flagged to parents.
Scarlett Jenkinson and Eddie Ratcliffe were both 15 when they killed Brianna, 16, with a hunting knife after luring her to Linear Park, Culcheth, a village near Warrington, Cheshire, on February 11 last year.
Jenkinson feasted on horror films while scouring the 'dark web' for footage of real-life torture and murder, with experts believing her exposure to depraved online imagery would have desensitised her, 'goading' her into copying what she had seen.
I've been saying this for years. The frontal lobe of the human brain is not developed until 25 years old. There was a good reason that the age of consent used to be 21.
Social media can be a very sharp, very nasty double edged sword, and I do believe it's at a root of a lot of bad behaviour in kids along with depression and mental health problems.

Ban horror films and then ban the arms industry and stop funding and promoting war - where most of these tortures and murders come from (and most of them are probably staged to promote war). Then there is the jihadi material. The West funds the jihadis when it suits them - to fight the Soviets when they were in Afghanistan - to destabilize middle eastern nations and to overthrow their leaders that don't play ball with them. Nowadays the mainstream media produce material that desensitizes people to horror and then we have our Politicians promoting war and celebrating huge arms deals.
Impossible! Reminds me of another forum I set up and this time gave it to Lexi. It was a rather smooth quite flash looking blue affair and once again I'm buggered if I can remember the name of it.
Might have been The Snug.... might not have. Got it up and running and the posts coming in but had decided to see if I could find some new blood. I explained what the forum was all about to a number of people around the web and got lots of American and Japanese people joining. Few Europeans were turning up too. I made a point of saying that I would prefer you didn't join up if you were under 18 but of course had no way of policing that. Anyway all was going well and I handed it over to Lexi. One American guy who was a concert pianist who played with the New York Philharmonic I think it was but also lead guitar in a rock band and was going back to uni for some reason owned up to being 18 in three days time. Lexi went ballistic and banned him for being under age then changed the nice blue theme for some rather ugly multi image thing. She banned all the new blood because she thought it wrong that young people... mostly well educated young people should be telling older people what's right and wrong. She wasn't interested in their points of view. There went another good little forum. Hi Lexi if your still breathing.

It's not a terrible idea, but it's kind of unworkable.
It's virtually impossible to verify age on line, unless IDs are required.
Now, I don't think anyone under 18 is interested in this forum, but if they were, they could easily lie about their age and log on.
You are joking, Digger never looks to see if anyone is asking to join.
I was away for 2 weeks last year, took a new tablet, my passwords were not stored, couldn't remember them so I couldn't log in... I filled in the 'Lost account info'...I was home before she bloody responded.
Never even heard of a snuff movie (you guys - you dolls !!!). Had to look it up. This has been going on for ever (not snuff movies). It was estimated that the average American child had seen about ten thousand deaths on television / on screen by the time they were ten or twelve. When Ghadaffi was killed in Libya it was broadcast by the mainstream media and images were in the papers - and it was greeted with celebration. Then we have shoot them up video games - children spending all day killing as part of a video / PC game.

Wasn't Lexi the hypochondriac who's nose fell off?
