if anything sums up how broken this country is, this has to be it.
A 13-year-old boy has been killed in a sword attack and four others injured in a 'terrifying sword attack' in east London this morning.
Two police officers and three members of the public were rushed to hospital after reports a car had driven into a home in Hainault, east London, shortly before 7am on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police confirmed in a statement this afternoon that the 13-year-old boy died in hospital and that the two officers require surgery for serious injuries.
A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident which police do not believe is terror related.
Daniel Garfinkle, who lives outside the station, said: 'I woke up at 7am to lots of shouting. There was a guy outside covered in blood, near the station and outside my home.
'Police were trying to calm down the man who carried out the stabbing. But he went towards the station. He kept shouting.'
Another local said: 'There was at least one man lying in a pool of blood. It was horrific.
'There were these terrible screams I woke to piercing screams, people said it was with a machete.'
Why the hell the police don't shoot to kill in situations like this is beyond me.
Footage shows they had clear shots for what seemed like minutes.
Because the last time one of them did, he was hauled over the coals and lost his job.
I remember police shooting the wrong man, and last year an unarmed man...in this case the man had a bloody great sword and had already attacked innocents. He was clearly the madman they had in their sights.
Armed police should be able to shoot to kill in cases like this.
