Interesting public discussion about Farage on local radio this morning. He has said, places like Oldham, have streets where none of the inhabitants speak English, (true) I come from an area where there are areas where South Asians, mostly Muslims live. They just don't integrate with any white people unless it's through work, many of the women, old and young, don't speak English. They need translators if they need to speak to anyone in English.
A Muslim man who claimed to run a foodbank in Oldham spoke on the radio, he denied this was the case. He claimed there are NO areas in Oldham where the people cannot speak English. He stated that 80% of the Asian people he knows have 'double degrees' and 60% of the Brits he knows are badly educated and illiterate, they rely on the help of the Asians.
He then went on to say how Farage causes division between people.

I don't like Farage, I think he is a smarmy sod.
But...I agree, Tory rule has dragged the country down, and as for Starmer, never in a million years would I vote for him. In my opinion he is weak and servile...saying what he thinks people want to hear, with no intention of doing much.

I think your country is much like mine. Good people stay out of politics or they never rise to the top because they won't do what is necessary to do so.
Yours might be slightly worse because no one becomes PM without years of sucking up in the system. By then they have sold their souls to the devil..
At least we have people that aren't really professional politicians that can get elected to higher offices or get appointed to leadership positions..
Angela Rayner....Love her or loathe her, she grew up in a rough area in a council house. Her mother was illiterate.
Rayner left school at 16, pregnant, with no qualifications.
She is now deputy leader of the Labour Party...probably about to be promoted after the election. She could be PM one day.

But how long has she been in politics. I'm not saying you have to be wealthy, just willing to play the game and the game corrupts people.
Biden doesn't come from money. He just played the game forever.
Biden was middle class and went to uni, Raynor was dirt poor, never went to college or uni.
She trained as a social worker and worked as a carer. She has been an mp for 10 years. Not bad going, she is only 44 now.

OK, she might be an exception. Assuming she doesn't have to be an MP for 20 years to become or stand for PM.
I guess in theory one doesn't have to be an MP to become PM (or maybe you do?). Has anyone recently become PM that wasn't in parliament for a while?

That still doesn't give her any class.
Well you can't buy class, even if you do allegedly fiddle your council house sale and pocket a hefty profit..

No PM has ever not been a member of parliament beforehand.
Keir Starmer, probably the next PM, has only been in parliament for 9 years.

Thats not too long I guess. I just wonder how many deals he had to make to rise to the top of the Labour Party..
We have quite a few politicians leaving congress this year. They have decided they won't play the game any more. They are probably the ones we need to stick around..
We tend to elect quite a few presidents who have never served in congress..
In my lifetime there was Carter, Reagan, Clinton, W Bush and Trump..
Of course the first 4 were governors, they just didn't serve in DC in any capacity.
1st of June millions are supposed to be converging on London to say enough is enough!
But your enough and my enough could be massively different.
I own up to knowing nothing of the details of this supposedly massive gathering beyond enough is enough.
Anyone enlighten me and are there any signs of anything brewing yet?
Did it happen? Heard nothing about it from the BBC. I assume it must have passed off peacefully as otherwise I am sure the BBC would have headlined any disorderly incident labeling them far right xenophobes out to cause trouble. There was some mention of Nigel Farage making some speeches - I guess that was their coverage.
