Scotland must be one of the lowest ranked teams in the European Championship. They did well to qualify and they did well to keep their chances alive up to the last few minutes of the final group match. If they had scored the last minute winner rather than Hungary then they would have surely gone on to qualify to the knockout stages as one of the best placed third placed teams with what would have been four points.

Surely for Scottish fans they will keep an eye on how well Germany now do in the knockouts given Germany was the only team to properly beat Scotland here - there loss to Hungary was because they were pushing for a last minute winner, and they got caught out on the break.

England will surely qualify and it would be interesting to see what happens if they met Germany in the knockout stages.

Just want to say one of the things I really used enjoy over the road, was the Dogs footie thread. You & Trapper John’s rivalry and (mostly good-natured) insults never failed to crack me up!!

I often don't pay attention to the hypercritical British press but I do pay attention to facts and good arguments.

Scotland were in Group A of the Euro-Qualifying Competition and finished second.

1 Spain........ P8   W7   D0   L1 Pts21 qualify
2 Scotland... P8   W5   D2   L1 Pts17 qualify
3 Norway.... P8    W3   D2   L3 Pts11
4 Georgia... P8   W2   D2   L4   Pts08 qualify via play-offs
5 Cyprus.... P8   W0   D0   L8   Pts00

Scotland played Georgia beating them 2-0 at home and drawing 2-2 away.

In the Euro2024 Championship Georgia manage to qualify to the knockout stage while Scotland were knocked out.

Yes it does. Had to laugh at prima dona Ronaldo crying because the goalie saved his penalty. They say he.missed, he didnt, the goalie made a great save. Credit to him.
