When it comes to government making mistakes, it's 99% incompetence or a lack of diligence.  Almost never some sort of treachery.

They just moved slow and didn't engage..

This is a rural area of Pennsylvania. These cops aren't exactly the best trained in the business.

Again, government is typically incompetent, not diabolical..

The authorities were told, reportedly by at least TWO different people that there was a man on the roof, apparently with a gun.

 Exactly Syl.  Why wasn't he taken down before.he could fire?  Now Trump injured, 2 critically and one poor man dead!!

He goes down and gets back up there with his rifle. Meanwhile, when he was on the ground, he was acting weird and the cops were looking for him.

He's back on the roof, and the citizens that see him are telling cops that are running around looking for the weird kid acting strange.

I guess it took them too long to figure out that the guy on the roof before the speech, the guy on the ground acting strange and the guy that citizens were telling them about was the same guy.


Trump should have been pulled off the stage well before those shots were fired..

Why was the kid not detained when he was first seen on the roof? Some bystander said they saw him and thought he was up there to get a better look at the president. Then they saw the gun, and alerted the cops...even then Trump was allowed to continue his performance.

He was seen on that roof 20 minutes before Trump started his performance, he was free to climb down,  get his gun, and climb back up again.

 

 Such incompetence has to arouse suspicion surely.

 I said before, these weren't secret service personnel but the local cops. I think what was happening was the area outside of the event was filled mostly with folks drinking and having a good time on a sunny summer day. It was a party atmosphere and the cops just became way too complacent..

The cops were astute enough to sense the kid was acting odd and they shared a picture of him, but that's where it ended. I don't think any of them bothered to talk to him.

Also, we live in a society where people overreact to the smallest threat. Anyone who has been a neighborhood Facebook pages has seen a dozen people talking about a suspicious guy walking down the street, and how someone has called the cops on that person. It's magnified by about a factor of 10 in a small town.

I think there's a little bit if the "Boy Who Cried Wolf" going on here.

Well, as in the fable, the wolf was real..

But ultimately, the secret service is responsible and their anti sniper team should have seen that kid on the roof. It was the perfect spot to fire from and they should have been watching that area like a hawk..

Everything insider the event requires going through a metal detector. Won't be any threat coming from there..

The whole sequence of events seems sketchy AF to me.

(pass the tin foil)……Staged, imo.
