I think all the 'helpers', some genuine, some not so much according to people who were there, wanted payment.

I have no idea how much it costs to repatriate a body. If the person is insured, the insurance company would help with costs.

If not, it's down to family, charity, or as in this case, GoFundMe donations.

 Funerals should be paid for by family not charity, otherwise we would all do it.  

This gofundme went up within hours of Jay going missing.  What was it for.  Still stinks imo.

 We wouldn't though would we?

A funeral is the last thing you can do for a loved one, unless a person has no means whatsoever to foot the bill, they would surely want to pay for the send off themselves.
