I never go on holiday to Spain. And I don't like the food. It's Greece every time for me.

If you haven't already been, go to Santorini, it's probably the most picturesque Greek island of them all.

No, I like a sandy beach.

In that case...avoid. It's the one thing Santorini doesn't have. It's picture postcard beautiful though.

Tourists are piling into N Wales as usual when the schools close for holidays.
I'm inland at the moment but just got back from the coast.
Caravans and BnB filling up.

Traffic getting  heavier and slowing down.

I miss being in Wales most of the summer, it really is one of the most beautiful places to be.

Might try Anglesey for a few days if the weather bucks up, one place I have never stayed.

We avoid places like Prestatyn and Rhyl like the plague though...too much like Blackpool.

Mags, you would love it.
I saw this nighttime pic of Santorini a few years ago, and decided the place would be on my bucket list to visit.
It was one of the best holidays we have had...so beautiful.

Thanks, tbh, I can only remember one holiday I haven't enjoyed.

Almeria in mainland Spain around 4 years ago. The hotel we stayed in was so unfriendly to Brits, we vowed we would not return to that area ever again....and we wont.

It's the only time we have ever felt unwelcome in a place. The room also stank of drains, and we insisted on moving rooms because there were actual bedbugs in the bed. It was a 4* hotel too....supposedly.

I wrote an honest revue on Trip Advisor, and they refused to publish it because I  accused the hotel staff of being racist, which they definitely were.

I had this in the Canaries.  I went with a friend a few years ago.

The hotel hated us because we were English.  We were all inclusive and we all had to queue in a line at the bar!    Germans just walked up and were served.  At night we had to drink outside, but was chilly. We went into the bar, and the barman ignored us.  A German fella asked us what we wanted to drink, he ordered it and made the barman given it to us. He was angry at our treatment. This happened to us all.  Black girl on hols with friends said she thought It was because she was black, I said no it's because you are English. They were racist, nasty and very rude.  We complained to the Manager, it got worse after that.  Even the maids were nasty, never cleaned properly.  We stopped complaining.  I wrote a scathing view on Trip Advisor and it wasn't printed.

I was ill there, heavy cold because they never allowed us women inside with our drinks.  When I came home I was really ill. My hub  said I bet if he was there they wouldn't have done this, he was furious.  Seemed to be just English women.

I love the Canaries, never had a problem before or since.  Just that hotel.

That's horrible.
Can you imagine the outrage, and rightly so, if British workers in hotels here, treated foreigners like that?

Some Spanish don't like the English because they believe Gibraltar should be Spanish.  However if they are in the tourist industry they should be used to the English.   Apart from that different regions of Spain may be more friendly to the English than other regions.  The Basque Region and Catalonia would like to be given independence.
