 You haven't yet grasped the difference between simply expressing a view on the one hand, and inciting violence or racial or other forms of hatred on the other. Sure our laws are different, and yours are behind the times, I think your first amendment rights get in the way - look at what the Westboro Baptist Church gets away with as an example of that.

 If the idiots at Westboro can't speak their vile nonsense you don't have free speech..

 

That's exactly what the first amendment is for. To say things many people or the government find offensive, not to discuss puppies and daffodils..

What this Nevada politician did is quite legal in some countries.  

 

In other countries the journalists or citizens are just jailed for saying things the politicians don't approve of..
