Rachel Reeves, who along with her husbands well paid job has an annual income of £300 thousand, has taken,..over the last 4 years, £3,700 in energy payments, from the tax payer, to heat her second home.
Yet 10 million pensioners, who's income rises above £12.000 annually, have had their winter fuel allowance denied them.
Bloody hypocrite.
"Rachel Reeves, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, is facing criticism for claiming £3,700 in energy expenses over the last five years to heat her second home in Leeds, while millions of pensioners lose their winter fuel payments under new government policies.
Reeves, who earns £158,851 annually, acknowledged that her salary exceeds that of the average UK household but insisted that her role requires having a second residence in Leeds. She stated, "I recognise that I earn more than average families in Britain, but I'm also determined in this position to protect the most vulnerable, which is why the winter fuel payment will continue to be paid to pensioners on pension credit."
Pressed on her own energy expense claims, Reeves added, "Well, being a constituency MP means that you have to have a house in London as well as, of course, living in the constituency, and that's the same for all MPs. Those are long-standing rules."
I said this before, lots are at it. She steals it from the pensioners but has 2 homes heated. Disgusting. Oh I wish we had someone to stick up for us. Say something you wind up in prison!

Andy Burnham is the Mayor of Greater Manchester, he is Labour. He served as Shadow Home Secretary from 2015/16 and was a MP for Leigh from 2001 to 2017.
He has said openly he doesn't agree with denying 10 million pensioners the winter fuel payment, he gives a % of his salary every month to charity, and when asked about the £54 a day food allowance alĺ MP's recieve, he said when he was an MP he refused it, MP's should buy their own food like everyone else.
He has compassion, and he isn't afraid to speak his mind....unlike the yes/men and women who are simpering round the present government.

Yes Andy seems to have kept his humility whilst overseeing a huge modernisation of Manchester.

This Labour Government don't seem to like OAP's much do they?
"Pensioners warned they could lose their bus pass in six weeks.
Free bus passes are key for millions of pensioners."
"The future now looks even bleaker for pensioners following a recent exchange in Parliament.
In a fiery session of Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Conservative MP Louie French slammed the reduction in Winter Fuel Payments as a "disgraceful political decision" and pressed the Prime Minister to "rule out scrapping concessionary travel fares and Council Tax discounts, which also help millions of pensioners across the UK".
Yet, Sir Keir Starmer sidestepped, saying: "I am not going to pre-empt the Budget. It will all be set out in due course."
I am an OAP, you may or may not be, but chances are you love someone who is, mum, dad, nan, grandad, sweet old lady down the road ,etc.
I don't need the winter fuel payment and I don't use buses, but I am speaking for the people who do use and need them. Are people now so desensitised to the plight of others that they don't care?
This government is running roughshod over the very people who have voted Labour all their lives, the working classes who have paid into the system here for 50 plus years, millions who have worked hard and not expected society to hand out freebies when they were able to work and earn for themselves.
I think this present shower are hoping all the old people will be dead by the time the next general election comes around, they are grooming the future voters now, VOTE LABOUR, LOOK AFTER YOURSELF, KILL OFF THE OLD FOLK.

Bastards.
I use my bus pass at times, it's so handy, I'm disgusted. I know many will ride buses to keep warm now, they won't have bus passes to do that. They also rely on buses for shopping, visiting etc.
He hates the aged, why???? He wants them dead. I'm disgusted! The dictator scum!
I don't think y'all use the term "third rail of politics" like we do.
It appears your current government is about to learn about it.
I'll let people Google the meaning behind it on their own..
Just looked it up. This is actually true. He simply won't answer the question about why he is targetting old people...his stock answer is he has to find money from somewhere because the last government left such a huge debt.
He says he is gathering money from the people whose shoulders are the broadest, in his opinion this is obviously the pensioners.
A third rail is an issue that politicians and officials don’t want to touch because it’s too controversial. The idiom refers to the actual third rail used in electric rail systems. The third rail carries a high voltage, so touching it is extremely dangerous.

Generally the third rail refers to benefits to the elderly, usually social security over here.
Once you use some benefit to buy the votes of older people as they are the most dependable voters, you can never revisit those benefits, or they will fry you.
You're running a good experiment for us when we have to start cutting..

He will learn the hard way, not all pensioners are feeble little old people who wait to be told what to do.
Once people retire here, they could have a good 25, 30 plus years to hang around and make sure this lying bastard has as short a term as possible....that's if the Labour MP's with a backbone don't get rid of him first.

To be honest, I'm pretty surprised these cuts are coming from Labour.
I imagine this isn't going to fly and these plans will have to be replaced with some sort of large tax increases on workers.
The smartest way would be to add to the VAT. People don't directly see that and its a sneaky way to tax the people. But sneaky works..
Or you could just do what we do (you really can't though because we have the world's currency), and just kick the can down the road..
American taxpayers just paid 1 trillion in interest on our debt this year. A trillion in tax dollars not spent on healthcare, education, research, defense, but on interest. It's almost 20% of out budget now.
And it's just growing exponentially..

They should rename the Labour Party now, because present Labour bares no resemblance to the Labour party that used to be, that one had the ordinary man in the street, (including the old) at heart.
This one is governed by greed, plus they are funded heavily by the unions, and they seem to be demanded more and more, Starmer hasn't got the backbone to negotiate fairly.
The Labour working class MP's have been bought and paid for....take the deputy PM for eg, she is a bloody disgrace, and as she is a local MP, I should know.

Your Labour Party has evolved much like our Democratic Party. They claim to support the working class, but really think of them as unsophisticated boors.
That being said, some painful decisions have to be made.
I'm not sure any party will stay in power long, if they make them..
Butter wouldn't melt Starmer, the one who made a banquet out of Boris not following the Brexit rules, seems to be a bit of a sly one himself'.
He is as dishonest as the rest of them....and a bigger hypocrite than most.
"KEIR Starmer is alleged to have broken parliamentary rules by failing to declare donations of clothing for his wife Victoria Starmer.
The gifts, from prominent Labour donor and peer Waheed Alli, were not initially declared in the register of MPs’ interests.
The Sunday Times reported that the Prime Minister approached the parliamentary authorities on Tuesday to make a late declaration after being given updated advice on what needed to be registered.
The Tories demanded a full investigation into the Starmers’ links with prominent Labour donor Lord Alli.
The Sunday Times reported the donations covered the cost of a personal shopper, clothes and alterations for Victoria Starmer both before and after Labour’s election win in July.
MPs are required to register gifts and donations within 28 days.
A No 10 spokesperson said: “We sought advice from the authorities on coming to office.
“We believed we had been compliant, however, following further interrogation this month, we have declared further items.”
