 That's probably a good idea.

It makes no difference in terms of cuts that make a difference, but optics are important for politicians.

You have to convince the people that you as a politician will be sharing in the impacts of spending cuts..

Yes..."We are all in it together"! lollollol

Jesus Christ, they are all at it.

Lord Ali, Labours biggest contributor splashes the cash to Labour MP's, including the PM and his deputy. So far it's known he was given a Downing Street Pass even though he has no formal job at the premises.

It'll be interesting to know what other 'favours' these wealthy donors are granted in return for all the freebies they are bestowing on the scrounging MP's.

"Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has admitted receiving £14,000 from Labour donor Lord Alli that helped pay for events to mark her 40th birthday.

Speaking on Sky News, she admitted some of the cash was used to pay for a celebratory 40th birthday event held in December at the Hoare Memorial Hall, a venue which boasts “stunning views” of Westminster Abbey.

Asked about the donations from Lord Alli, Ms Phillipson told Sky’s Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips: “So I received that money from Waheed Alli, who’s a longstanding Labour peer."

One of the most hypocritical interviews I have ever seen.

Rachel Reeves lying through her teeth, squirming when questioned, saying she was grateful for the £7,500 donation to buy her clothes, when her and her husband earn around £350k pa....and that's before all the perks, freebies and 'donations'
This is the woman who says the majority of OAP's can manage without a £300 winter fuel allowance, yet claimed £4000 towards her own energy bills.

WHAT HYPOCRITES HER AND HER CRONIES ARE.

One of politics biggest hypocrites has been caught out again, taking expensive freebies from Labours biggest contributor.

He defends accepting free accommodation from Lord Alli, using his £80,000,000 penthouse flat, so his son could study for his GCSE's in peace.

He is most indignant that people dont understand that he and his wife have always vowed to do the best for their kids...and this was in the boys best interest.

Millions of parents want to do the best for their kids, but they don't have the luxury of scrounging 20 grands worth of free accommodation, they provide a quiet room in the family home so they can study in peace.

This man is on a different planet to the rest of us....he is already the 2nd most unpopular PM in the history of British politics, and he has only been in the job for less than 3 months.

He is on a par with the racist Dianne Abbott, who stated that BLACK mothers want the best for their children, when she was pulled up and asked if she thought WHITE mothers didn't, she constantly changed the subject.

Starmer obviously thinks it's OK to accept free accommodation off Labours biggest donator... (and I wonder what Alli is getting in return for all these back handers? I expect it's more than an unofficial  Downing Street pass) because he, and only he, wants to do the best for his kids.

I detest Abbott, well know racist.  Many of the members are.

I hope those who voted them in regret it.  I bet many were elderly thinking they were like the workers party of old.  They're worse than Bliars mob!

It's heartening to know that not every MP is in it to feather their own nest.

"A Labour MP has quit over the “freebies” scandal that has engulfed Keir Starmer and his government.

Rosie Duffield, MP for Canterbury, said she was standing down because of Sir Keir’s “cruel and unnecessary” policies and said she was writing to the Prime Minister today informing him of her decision to resign.

Ms Duffield condemned Sir Keir in a letter for accepting gifts worth more than £100,000 for clothing, glasses and accommodation paid by Lord Alli, the millionaire Labour peer.

In the letter shared with The Sunday Times, she wrote: “The sleaze, nepotism and apparent avarice are off the scale. I am so ashamed of what you and your inner circle have done to tarnish and humiliate our once proud party.”

Good for her.

Rosie Duffield, MP for Canterbury, has become the fastest MP to jump ship after a general election in modern political history - Jeff Gilbert

 Good for her.

But I wonder. Wouldn't it be better if she stuck around and fought the good fight?

Can your MPs quit their party and stay in their position?.

Maybe she is so disillusioned she feels she has had enough.

An MP can change parties, it's happened recently.

I don't think they can actually resign outright...it's complicated.

I understand being disillusioned. Lot's of folks were that way with Trump. But they knew that leaving would mean another yes man, instead of someone trying to represent the voters.

It's a sorry state of affairs when a country feels they have to vote for an undesirable to keep someone worse out.
We were in the same predicament, which is how we have ended up with the present lot.

Hopefully, this was necessary to show the younger screaming woke lefties the true nature of the politician.

"Sir Keir Starmer's top donor Lord Waheed Alli is being probed by a House of Lords watchdog over 'alleged non-registration of interests', it was disclosed today.

The House of Lords Commissioners for Standards said the multi-millionaire businessman was being investigated over possible breaches of peers' code of conduct.

Lord Alli has recently found himself at the centre of a 'freebies' row engulfing the Prime Minister.

He has donated thousands of pounds worth of clothing and glasses to Sir Keir, and has also provided free accommodation to the Labour premier."

I posted a few days ago, wondering what Lord Alli was getting in return for all his personal donations to political scroungers.
Seems being granted a Downing Street pass when he had no business holding one may just be the tip of the iceberg.

I believe he mistakenly believed all OAP's voted the Tories in - remember the papers saying it was the "silver surfers" that gave Boris the lead?. It was oft said that that was how the Tories got in the last time. What you said Syl, about the very people he is demonising and killing off is true - most of them DID vote Labour, as they were working class and Labour were a working class party then. They actually worked for their money, unlike a lot of today's lot. I believe the rot set in after Blair, and what they did to Corbyn still grates with me. That man is old Labour, through and through, there's no way he would be targeting OAP's, like Starman is. And because Corbyn is old school Labour - they did everything in their power to get rid of him. He is looking at starting a new Party, I seriously hope he does, one with the values that used to belong to the Labour party we knew. And tube drivers are now demanding higher wages? What? They sit on their ass all day, the bloody things run themselves, but Starkraving Starmer will concede to the Unions, they have too much sway, and it will get worse. It has been proven that we can in fact well afford the WFA for pensioners, the economy is doing well, and that comes from Rachel's old workmates - The Bank of England! And let us not forget the foreign aid we are sending and the boat people we are keeping. The "refugees", illegal or otherwise, will be warmer in their hotels than the bloody pensioners this winter, who worked for a better life and a hand from their government when it's needed! Britain is indeed going down the drain, but say anything or do anything and you're jailed. And let's look at that...did you see some of those released?? Time to start looking after our own people, and making those who want to come to our country work to pay their keep, not live off the backs of us while we suffer!
