Spared prison.

The disgusting, vile paedophile, predator, walked free!

How comes the rich get off.  Are judges of the same thought as them.

Meanwhile a woman who wrote on Facebook a comment Starmer didn't like got 2 years!  Where's the justice?

I'm disgusted!  I hate this country!!!

Goldspring in one breath says “extremely serious offences" and in the next “six months imprisonment suspended for two years”.  But hey, call a bloke in a dress male and the cell door will be slamming into your backside.

No doubt he’ll be raising a glass or two of celebratory bubbly without a thought to the lifetime damage done to the kids abused in those pics / videos.

TBH, the disgusting sentencing today was to be expected. Edwards ticked all the right boxes.

Comforting to know my tv licence payments helped fund his deviancy and now his freedom.

Not only did your licence payment help fund his perversions, it also went towards the huge pay rise he was given AFTER he was suspended.

The BBC, friend to all child abusers....don't you just love coughing up your £169.50 a year.

Last year I decided to make a point and delay paying my TV licence for as long as possible....which was a couple of months.

I received a letter from them saying "Your house is under surveillance", pay your licence immediately or face the consequences.

Pity Edwards wasn't under surveillance, he might no have got away with his crimes for so long.

I could live ok on his pay rise alone.

I read that the BBC is asking for approx £200,000 back from him. How that is going to work I don’t know… he was still employed by them  / on sick leave(?). I wonder if they’ll be relying on him doing the moral thing.😀

Huw will be okay, he must have a good old fat pension to cushion his unemployment.

Look at the sentencing of the rioters compared to Huw Edwards.

One of them was jailed for shouting at  a police dog and Edwards gets a suspended sentence!!

It's disgusting.

It really is V, I'm sick of this justice system.  Rich always get away with it. He's a dirty vile nonce, should be locked.up.

Why wasn't his trial held at a high court  instead of a magistrates court anyway.

I could be wrong but I’ve always felt that Magistrates Court is for less serious crimes likes eg disorderly conduct, thieving from the likes of Asda and Crown Court is for the more serious offences…how child porn isn’t automatically up there as a very serious offence is beyond me.

As he was, no doubt advised to plead guilty, Magistrates Court was the lesser of two evils. He could have fought it and asked for Crown Court but that would have meant a jury, deeper police investigation (perhaps) and possibly a meaningful prison sentence. He couldn’t lose with MC really…remorseful, MH, “blemish free past”, a problematic father and one presiding judge. Bless, a victim through and through.

Shame on the legal system that has treated child porn on the same level as Dave getting bladdered and obnoxious on a Friday night.

An interview that may be of some interest…” Former head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Command Centre within the National Crime Agency criticises the decision to give Huw Edwards a suspended sentence for accessing indecent images of young children. He tells Aasmah Mir and Stig Abell rehabilitation for sex offenders can only take place in prison”

It's an either-way offence. An either-way offence is held in a magistrate's court unless the defendant pleads not guilty and asks for a jury, or if the case is particularly complex, in which case it will be held in a crown court.

I have granddaughters who I adore and any man who has ever seen children sexually will never get near them...
my entire family which is large would feel exactly the same.
None of us can believe a man like that can ever change.

Shoplifting to murder rape terrorism they all go first to the magistrates court.
They hear the details and may ask if you have anything to say.
They then go for a sherry and a bun out of sight and decide what to do with you.
Fine you lock you up give you probation give you a suspended sentence adjourn
till next week awaiting probation/medical etc reports.
A magistrate can only give you six months tops so if they decide the crime may well deserve more than that
they adjourn for a crown court hearing.
You might be bailed awaiting trial you might be remanded.
