I love carrots as well and cabbage.

The only down side with cabbage is it stinks the house out.

I mean the cooking of it, not me farting once I've eaten it.

 lol you're right

Pretty much all done with my Christmas shopping, barring a couple of perishable things I’ll get sorted nearer the time.

It‘s my turn to organise a table for 10 of my mates for our usual pre-Christmas get together. I always wrack my brain trying to figure out something a little different to give as table goody bags for each of them. This year, I think I’ve cracked it happy

A pretty voile bag, with individual ‘diamond’ toe divider stubs, for toenail painting. So much better than those spongey things that never stay put! And a bottle of THE best fastest-drying clear top coat I’ve used for years. It’s amazing stuff.

Any empty space in the bags will be topped off with loads of little foil-wrapped chocs.

Are you cooking for the ten friends Vam?

Traditional turkey and all the trimmings?

🎅

Nah, V - I booked a restaurant we often go to. It’s always very Christmasy there in December.

I friggin’ hate cooking, and only blitz-cook to fill the freezer 2 or 3 times a month. There’s only me to cook for these days, so…dunno

These days, there’s a saying I live by - ‘I only have a kitchen, because it came with the house’ wink

Like mince pies and dates, I only ever buy them at Christmas time.

I love mince pies, I was going to try making my own this year.

I've bought the wee silver dishes in preparation.

I don't think it should be too difficult.

Hot or cold for you Syl?

I love mine hot!!

😋

I will eat them any way they come, but I love them hot with poured double cream.

I also love all veg, the only one I avoid (thanks to school dinners, the horror never fades) are butter beans.

I wish I could book a restaurant for Christmas dinner, Vam.

No sweating over pots, no burning things and no dishes to clear away.

Last year I was left to carry the bleeding table through from the kitchen to living room on my own while my dad and strapping well build brother watched the telly.

They'll get my boot up their arse this year if they try it.

⛄🎄🎅

 Turnip at school was terrible.

The used wee ice cream scopes and it looked soft until you got a hard bit and it was horrible.

😣

Do you use pre roller pastry Mags?

I've seen it in the shops.

I was thinking of trying it and some icing shaped holly leaves.

Give them a bit of class!!

 Oh Yuck.

School dinners were foul, I was in my 20's before I tried facing custard again, it was a revelation to have it without unidentifiable lumps in it.

Yes I do, but they always come out wrong.  Mind you I'm not great with pastry. 😒

I'm okay with Victoria sponges and fairy cakes but scones I just can't do.

Or pancakes.

😟

My Granny was a good baker, taught me to knit too.

I'm trying to learn how to crochet, I would like to do that but it seems so tricky.

😞

Lol at you two.

I can neither bake or knit very well.

At school, I knitted the longest scarf ever, I just kept going because I didn't know how to cast off.

We had a knitting project at school.

We had to knit these wee jumpers for African orphans.

Cast on forty and so many rows then add extra stitches for the sleeves.

Our hearts were in the right place but the jumpers were bloody awful.

In needlework class we had to stitch material to learn various stitchings.   I got up and I had stitched my skirt to the material!

 Whoops!!

My Great Granny took a jumper off the washing line and unravelled it because there was a big whole in the arm.

It belonged to the woman next door, it was her husband's work jumper.

Came to collect it and that was left was a big ball of wool!!

lol

I wish you two had been in my domestic classes at school.
I wouldn't have been the most useless one there. lol
