13 year old granddaughter is staying at the moment and has been in and out pointing her phone at a blank black sky north and north east and catching some great pictures of the northern lights that we can't see with the naked eye.

If you're still up go give it a go now!

The idea is you photograph the black sky and see what you get... she's getting some amazing stuff!

Facing north north east but if you're surrounded by street lights might as well forget it.

THursday night I got a great display.  Around 12.45am.  Great big swathe of blood red, it was amazing and so beautiful I was jumping up and down in the back garden.  I tried to photograph it but my phone camera is crap.   It lasted around 15 minutes.   I've never seen the Northern Lights so this was on my bucket list and I was so happy to have seen such a beautiful thing.

I just checked my iphone and while I thought the screen was black and I caught nothing, it actually did take an image though it does it no justice.   IMG_2967.JPG

Recently we went on an organised trip in Tenerife, up a volcano (dormant) at night time.
It was pitch black, couldn't see a thing for a while, then when eyes became accustomed, I could see millions of stars, even without the telescopes.
I have never seen a shooting star in my life, that night I saw three.

Hoping one day I will see the Aurora Borealis.
