Bonfire night.

Might be me getting old but I didn't seem to notice it creeping up on me in the usual manner of lots of whizz pops and bangs around.

Lots of special night goings on advertising... I noticed nothing and suspected even less!

I'm a couple of days away from it and I swear it's just kind of appeared like popping it's head up.

 Probably because lots of firework displays have been cancelled for the second year.  Another British tradition that will fade in time.

Our local council used to put on brilliant firework displays, then Covid happened...and we haven't had one since.
Short of cash is the excuse they use now, and if you saw the money the council has wasted in this area, it's easy to see why they are short.

I think public sale of fireworks should be banned and only have official displays.

Fortunately Shorty isn't fussed but I remember Jack's distress, he used to hide all over the house.

I remember NN telling me her Newfoundland Bear used to sit on the table in the garden and watch them.

Lovely dogs them, gentle giants.

 Our dog before the one we have now, didn't care a jot about fireworks.  He'd quite happily sit in the garden and listen to them.  The most laid back dog I've ever had.

Speaking of bonfires, they are boarding up DC in preparation of civil unrest after the election.

Especially if it's very close not decided quickly.

Could be some wild times on this side of the pond.

Trump has posted on his social media platform, Truth Social saying "law enforcement coming" to Philadelphia because of "massive cheating” there. He did not provide details of the alleged cheating or any evidence.

 

Do you believe him?

 My nans brother died there. Not sure if it was I'm the Somme.   I'm trying to trace him, but their spelling in those days was so bad, her name was spelt 3 different ways!

 I understand Vam, many will agree with you.  I just hope I am right, time will tell.

Yes it will be very sad in France but oh those poor men and boys laying there, I feel I owe it to them to honour them.  My daughter's taking me next year otherwise I couldn't go.

Such a war should never have happened.  No wars should, but that war was over nothing. Could have been avoided.
