"Gregg Wallace has hit back at allegations of historic misconduct, saying they have come from a "handful of middle-class women of a certain age".
The MasterChef presenter said in a video on Instagram, external on Sunday morning there had been "13 complaints" from "over 4,000 contestants" he had worked with in 20 years on the BBC One show." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0k8kryvdjno
Any decent person would find ONE complaint horrifying but he seems to think that it's only 13 so no big deal eh.
Loving the implication that the complaints have come from stereotypical hysterical, menopausal women. They should be so lucky, right?
Summed up nicely, he is so unaware of how sleazy he is, he is digging the hole deeper by the day.

I wonder who will be replacing him on Masterchef?
Rumour has it Schofield is looking for a job, future troublesome meno women will be safe at least
I think Schofield had a bit of a raw deal, it's odd how people seem to think celebs should bare their souls to all. Really, the only people he owed an explanation to were his wife and family.
Maybe Mary Berry but be a better bet, I doubt she would be making smutty remarks to anyone, male or female.

Can't stand Schofield, never could. I don't watch it though tbh.

I'm not struck either, but that doesn't alter the fact he got a raw deal.

I don't know him or watch Masterchef, but this is getting silly now. They all jump on the bandwagon complaining now. Get over it.
It's this kind of attitude that let him get away with it in the first place.
The production company that produce his shows, and ultimately the BBC (again) let him get away with it.
Complaining that someone twanged your bra 20 years later is jumping on the bandwagon. Being subjected to rape jokes, having to suffer a superior running around naked in the workplace, and being mauled are valid complaints.

It doesn't matter how trivial it might sound to you, it all helps to paint the picture of a course of conduct.
If someone twangs your bra strap, and it happened to me, just as it happened to many women of my generation, you deal with it there and then.
In my case a slap round the face worked, I doubt he ever did it again... to any woman. No doubt some would say I was wrong to have reacted that way, but it worked.
You don't jump on the bandwagon years later and try to make out you were devastated by it.
In my opinion, when women come out years later with trivia, it demeans the REAL complaints.

I agree. Imagine if no one had joined the "band-wagon" Harvey Weinstein* would still be out there.
*not comparing Wallace to Weinstein in any shape or form.
Yes the.more I read, the more I've changed my.mind. He is a predator, protected by the BBC again.
"Gregg Wallace's defence of his actions on MasterChef were "inappropriate and misogynistic", Downing Street has said." https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgx5ngze3xo
I don't watch tv so didn't know much, if anything, about him but the more I've read since this erupted he comes across as a sleazy old bugger, definitely the type I'd avoid if he approached in a pub. He certainly seems to think he's hot shit.
I've read he left a Channel5 prog due to an argument - what that was about I've no idea as no one has revealed details - and that the BBC had had complaints in the past. Apparently Wallace is unable to read the room wherever he goes.
The response he gave yesterday just dug the hole deeper. He is brazening it out because I really think he doesn't think he has acted inappropriately.
How many times does an employer/employers have to take someone to one side re complaints before the penny drops though Syl? I personally feel he just doesn't give a flying fig how his behaviour affects others. He didn't offer up an immediate apology to "anyone I might have offended" which to me is something someone ignorant to the impact would offer up...what does he do, he immediately blames others. Women at that.
I personally feel he's an ego bloated misogynist who believes he's so loved by his audience that anything goes.
EDIT: Whilst typing BBC reporting he's now apologised. Too little too late mate.

The employers were useless. At least 2 women complained to producers at the time, and they felt like they were ignored, which they were, because the company continued to employ him and his behaviour didn't improve....he is a creep, he just doesn't know it.
My point earlier is that women also have to take responsibility. If someone is bullying in the workplace, either in a sexual nature or not, the woman should always make it known. Two complaints may be brushed under the carpet, 13 (probably more now) can't be.
Not only does it help them, it helps other future potential 'victims'.
"Downing Street also revealed that the culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, held talks with the BBC bosses in the wake of the row.
The spokesperson said: “The culture secretary spoke with the BBC leadership at the end of last week on this matter and wider workplace culture issues to seek assurances that there are robust processes in place to deal with complaints.
“More broadly, the BBC is conducting an independent review into workplace culture, which must deliver clear and timely recommendations. It’s essential that staff and the wider public have confidence that the BBC takes these issues seriously.”

Confidence in the BBC? They're having a laugh. You'd think after Savile that blokes like Wallace and his ilk would have been weeded and sharply kicked out but here we are yet again. In 2012 Savile was publicly outed and yet the BBC was getting complaints about Wallace in the same year and onwards. How many bloody complaints does it take??? I have to laugh at yet another "review", how many is that now?
I'm not holding my breath that this is the last creepy "celeb" to be outed, particularly re the BBC. It seems to be too ingrained. Fat cheques, fat egos.

Don't forget Russel Brand and Huw Edwards...just two of the more recent cases.
The BBC even paid Edwards medical bills, though whether paedophilia can be cured by visiting an expensive private clinic, I very much doubt. He was also awarded a bloody pay rise whilst he was suspended.
You are right, this behaviour is ingrained in the BBC, and for every pervert or predator exposed, I wonder how many go under the radar.
I read this was another BBC investigation that has revealed these complaints in the same way that it was a BBC investigation into Mr Fayad that revealed him to be one of the most evil men towards women since Weinstein.
