"Downing Street also revealed that the culture secretary, Lisa Nandy, held talks with the BBC bosses in the wake of the row.

The spokesperson said: “The culture secretary spoke with the BBC leadership at the end of last week on this matter and wider workplace culture issues to seek assurances that there are robust processes in place to deal with complaints.

“More broadly, the BBC is conducting an independent review into workplace culture, which must deliver clear and timely recommendations. It’s essential that staff and the wider public have confidence that the BBC takes these issues seriously.”

Confidence in the BBC? They're having a laugh.  You'd think after Savile that blokes like Wallace and his ilk would have been weeded and sharply kicked out but here we are yet again. In 2012 Savile was publicly outed and yet the BBC was getting complaints about Wallace in the same year and onwards. How many bloody complaints does it take??? I have to laugh at yet another "review", how many is that now?

I'm not holding my breath that this is the last creepy "celeb" to be outed, particularly re the BBC. It seems to be too ingrained. Fat cheques, fat egos.

Don't forget Russel Brand and Huw Edwards...just two of the more recent cases.

The BBC even paid Edwards medical bills, though whether paedophilia can be cured by visiting an expensive private clinic, I very much doubt. He was also awarded a bloody pay rise whilst he was suspended.

You are right, this behaviour is ingrained in the BBC, and for every pervert or predator exposed, I wonder how many go under the radar.

Comforting to know he got a bed so quickly when the majority of licence payers have to wait months for a sniff at MH treatment, right? I just looked up the clinic, not a bad retreat...even sweeter I suppose when you don't have to pay yourself. Glad my payments helped keep him in the luxury he's accustomed to.

I'm looking forward to Wallace again bitching of "classism" if he's not mollycoddled like Edwards.

Quick update:  "The BBC is pulling its MasterChef Christmas specials after the allegations against presenter Gregg Wallace.

Two Christmas specials were planned, both of which were set to air on BBC One later this month.

It is understood the celebrity contestants involved in the Christmas special are being spoken to about the reasons behind the decision to pull the show.

A BBC spokesperson said: “As we have said, MasterChef is an amazing competition which is life-changing for the chefs taking part and the current series of MasterChef: The Professionals is continuing as planned.

“The celebrity Christmas specials are obviously a different type of show and in the current circumstances we have decided not to broadcast them.” "  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ceqlnl95lwdo

He effed up a golden opportunity for others which is a bloody shame.

Hopefully they will get a new presenter, and be given another chance to compete.

Bake off has had several different presenters, even when Mary Berry left as a judge, Prue Leith replaced her and the show is as popular as ever.

To be honest, I think Masterchef is a good show in spite of Wallace, not because of him.
When he pulls those ridiculous faces if he tastes something nice, he looks like a third rate porn star in the throes....very off-putting..

Never watched it to be honest, the only food related shows I’ve watched have been Gordon Ramsey’s. Now there’s a bloke with passion and as foul mouthed as he can get I like him and I admire his love of excellence.

The “cheeky chappie” that is Wallace is a Pound Shop Del Boy but without the personality, kindness, humour and hair…the Peckham Pouncer indeed. (I was gobsmacked to learn that he is actually from Peckham. nod ).

I don't like Ramsey, he is a bully.

More and more people, including men, complaining about Wallace now.
This is what I meant about jumping on the bandwagon.

“ ‘I hadn’t slept for four days. The feeling of being under attack, of isolation, of abandonment was overwhelming. Nobody from the BBC contacted me once these stories started breaking – absolutely nobody at all.

“ Look, I don’t want to make myself sound innocent because, I’ve come to realise, I must have offended a lot of people over the years when you look at the number of complaints.

‘But people on MasterChef are in a very stressed situation and many of them are going to leave disappointed with shattered dreams. I think there has been a lot of misunderstanding of my intention, and so many of the complaints are from so long ago. There’s a difference between what they think I said and what was actually said.’

Quite how the BBC did not suspect Gregg, who is one of its most prolific stars, was neurodiverse or offer him any support is baffling.

Indeed, despite his obvious distress in recent months (he has said on Instagram he ‘wasn’t in a good head space’, ‘was under a huge amount of stress’ and felt ‘very alone’) he says that the BBC didn’t so much as lift up the phone to support him until a few weeks ago, when it sent an email to arrange a meeting to discuss his historic behaviour.

The email, from the BBC’s HR department, included the BBC Code of Conduct and the BBC values. Later that day they sent a second email with links to organisations such as the Samaritans, NHS mental health support lines and two suicide helplines.

Everything’s fine while everything’s fine and lots of people are making lots of money, but the moment that the wind starts to change, f*** me,’ says Gregg.

‘I didn’t know when I signed up to do a television show 20 years ago that this was how it was going to play out. If I had, there is no way I’d have put my name on that bit of paper. It hasn’t been worth it. You’re almost signing a pact with the devil.” https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-14647709/Gregg-Wallace-wife-interview-MasterChef-star-allegations-misconduct.html

He still doesn’t seem to grasp his behaviour was unacceptable, autistic or otherwise and it comes across as though he thinks he’s not totally to blame for all those complaints. Abandonment?…why he expected the BBC to more or less mop his brow is beyond me. His absence from the prog proves he wasn’t as indispensable as perhaps he thought.

Stress? Millions in the UK are stressed, no lucrative salaries and being treated as a big time celeb with all its trappings for them so give me a break with that.

When is your employer responsible for a medical diagnosis - his wives, doctors, friends never noticed? He never noticed he was “different” in any way after previous behavioural warning(s)?

There's nothing worse than a dirty old man.   No dignity to it.   Not that autistic he can't function normally in every other way.   The truth is he's a licentious old libertine.

He’s baked himself one big perv pity party for us all to feast upon…

Ingredients:  suicide ideation, his kid’s health, a loving wife and MIL, stress, a newly diagnosed health problem, tears, his employers abandoning him, turn-coat female friends & colleagues, being a celeb extraordinaire, loyal wife, stress, humble beginnings, a family death(RIP), stress, working class cheeky chappie family loving man, online harassment, stress, chest pains. Nicely topped off with a few pics for decoration. Oh and Rod Stewart gets a mention.

(did I mention stress?wink)

I genuinely feel for him losing his mum but find this shameful…“I think it’s terribly sad that in the last days of her life she was reading horrible things about me and witnessing my disgrace,’ says Gregg…”

But hey, it no big deal as “many of the complaints are from so long ago” however “[regarding people writing about his behaviour] I’m really struggling to understand the motivation for it.’

He does seem to be on the sleazy side, but so many men of his age were/still are, the climate they grew up in was completely different to the social climate of today.
The sock on willy thing, which has been made much of, he could have seen that as a joke, and some may have taken it that way, (I probably would have) but it can also be taken as intimidating and a gesture of power....sometimes there are two ways of looking at things.

It's just not seemly on an older man.  Some goofy teenager maybe but not grandad.  Yuk!

I wonder if some of his latest gripes are because the BBC didn’t molly-coddle him like they did Edwards…Wallace seems to have a mighty ego.

BBC is set to publish “Workplace Culture Review“, they’re billing it as an “important moment”.  God only knows how much that cost licence payers and what good it will do. The review after Savile didn’t change much… “The importance of getting the culture right in our organisation is key.”

Forget review after review and “lessons learned”…one investigation proven and they’re booted out. Simple.
