It's no longer the epicenter for anything.

Watch Yellowstone.

Watch Landman.

No filming in Cali.

The number one podcast and several more in the top 50 come out of Austin..

The leaders of California look incompetent and clueless. They want to be spiritual leaders for their people, not hands on managers providing basic services..

 Is it a land grab?

When it comes to government, especially places like California I always apply Hanlon's razor..

These people are too inept to plan this.

There will be land grabs after the fact as scarcity is an economic condition that exists when the supply of a good or service is dramatically reduced.

But you wouldn't know who these people were...the Russians the Chinese the Iranians the CIA a cartel of billionaires... you can't honestly say all these people are to inept.

I don't think planning random acts of arson would be to challenging.

Lots of reports of people being arrested with fire starting materials... blow torches petrol down drains and so on.

Outside of maybe the billionaires, the other folks you mention stand nothing to gain by destroying the status quo in that area.

This is just plain old fashioned bad government similar to what you are seeing in your country now..Not some sort of evil plot.

He talks sense, and is very dry with it.

The couple of quotes he posted up said by Kristine Larson are laughably ridiculous. Quite alarming that people like her can hold down such a responsible job.

He's a comedian by trade. But he's been doing this show for at least 30 years now.

And yeah, we don't need DEI in fire departments. We need people who can fight fires..

He does nail it - very witty as well. I can't think of a UK equivalent.

All that nonsense about 'diversity and inclusion' does my head in. It should always be the best person for any job, regardless of colour, sexuality etc, and not give hiring preferences to someone beacuse they belong to a minority group.

If I were an overweight black lesbian who wore coke bottle glasses, I think I would prefer a gym fit 6ft male to rescue me, rather than the woman in the clip, just because she looked like me.

The Duchess of Sussex has posted a new video opening a special gift donated by singer Billie Eilish for a family whose home was burned by the Los Angeles wildfires.

Posting to Instagram, Meghan explained how she got in touch with a mother and daughter whose home was “left in ashes” by the blazes that destroyed more than 12,000 homes.

Among the 15-year-old’s possessions burned in the fire was a Billie Eilish T-shirt that had been left in the washing machine.

I said, ‘well, I don’t know, Billie Eilish but I’m going to figure out how to get you this shirt’.

“I thought of everybody that I knew, and I made a voice note and I was like, ‘please, can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish’.”

In the video, Meghan opens a package to reveal the singer had signed a box full of merchandise for the 15-year-old.

“Let’s keep supporting those affected by the California wildfires,” the duchess captioned the video.

“Thanks to everyone who made this possible but most importantly, thank you to our first responders who are the community’s real heroes.”

The girl being sent the goodies direct from the actual star would have taken the shine off this noble act I suppose. The video is pure cringe, makes out she doesn’t know what a lunch box is.

Who the hell does a, supposedly, good deed only to video themselves bragging about it.

Shame she doesn't apply her deeply giving and selfless heart kindness to her elderly father.

Yes, get the video out first before you tell the actual people involved

I thought that was a nice gesture.   So now when the 15 year old and her parents are sleeping on a park bench because their home and all their possessions were burnt to ashes, they could all feel better about their situation because the 15 year old is now wearing a signed Billie Eilish T-Shirt.  It makes me so appreciative that I just want to go out and spend $10,000 on Billie Eiliish merchandise and to fly out and experience one of her concerts.  And God Bless the Duchess of Sussex - Megan the Great - for arranging all of this.  I will personally honour her by prostrating myself at her feet if I am able to get within 100 yards of her.  Sweet.

 You’re welcome.

She’s getting ripped into, rightly so, from all over. No doubt the kid will be chuffed to bits with the memorabilia but imagine how thrilled she would have been knowing it had come direct from her idol, unless that’s just me…what’s the betting there’ll be cutesy note in the package “with love, Meghan”. There was no need for her to receive that stuff let alone tell the world.

It was not only a lovely gesture but bloody hard work to boot I’ll have you know, it’s strenuous having to tell a lackey to arrange it all.

with love, Meghan Martyr Queen of the Ashes.

Meghan Markle: The Woman Who Almost Had It All—And Threw It Away There was a time when Meghan Markle stood on the precipice of having it all: a fairy-tale wedding, global admiration, and a role within one of the most prestigious institutions in the world. She had the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, to carve out a respected position in history. But instead of embracing duty and legacy, she chose deception, victimhood, and a desperate hunger for attention. From a little-known actress on a cable TV show to a duchess with the world at her feet, Meghan had a rare chance to rise beyond mediocrity. But rather than earn respect, she demanded it. Rather than work within the royal framework, she rebelled against it—painting herself as a misunderstood victim while cashing in on the very title she supposedly despised. The press turned from fascination to skepticism as her narrative unraveled, exposing contradictions, half-truths, and outright fabrications. She and Harry fled to America, promising a life of privacy, only to sign multimillion-dollar deals that hinged on exploiting their royal connections. Netflix, Spotify, book deals—each opportunity squandered by a lack of talent, originality, and work ethic. And as the world moved on, she became just another Hollywood cautionary tale. Fast forward to today: the Spotify deal collapsed, her podcast canned after one embarrassing season, Netflix reportedly reconsidering its investment, and Hollywood uninterested in her “reinvention.” Invitations to high-profile events? Scarce. Friends in powerful places? Few. The Sussex brand, built on grievance and scandal, has lost its luster. And now, she’s back to where she started—desperate for relevance, scraping the bottom of the barrel for any headline, any opportunity to remind the world she still exists. It’s a spectacular fall from grace, but one entirely of her own making. Instead of being a beloved princess, she chose to be a tabloid fixture. Instead of making a real difference, she settled for cheap PR stunts. Meghan Markle didn’t just lose it all—she threw it away.

 It does.

Her true colours soon began to show, she does seem to be a woman so far up her own arse she lurches from bad to worse.

The difference between her and Katherine, who seemed a bit boring at first in comparison, is massive.

Katherine is the genuine article, Meghan a shoddy fake.

The only word that sums her up to me is tacky. A glittered turd is still a turd.

I’ve just read that the singer (Adam Levine and his wife) and Eilish herself haven’t acknowledged, on any social media, Markle’s “good deed”. Her actions are a slap in the face for those who are genuinely contributing and helping behind the scenes and doing so anonymously. Her turned off comments section on her IG account speaks volumes to me.

off topic: my elderly neighbour, now deceased, slipped and hurt his ankle and was advised to rest it up. He was so upset about not being able to go out..I later found out that every year he went out in all weathers selling poppies for the British Legion. He was 89yo… no publicity, no fan fare no bloody Instagram video. I had spent plenty of time in his company and not once did he mention his charity work. I’m sure plenty of us know people who do similar.

And yet here we have a giddy Meghan Markle…

So true /\. People give of themselves and do charity work either to help the cause or, as in her case, to help their own cause.

I have read stories of people, who after they die, others come forwards and tell of all the good they did anonymously when they were alive.
Lots of ordinary people, but two famous ones who did so much and said nothing about it, George Micheal and Paul O'Grady.
