That guests summing up of Musk is alarming, alarming because if what he says is right, and I think it is, it shows how America, one of the most powerful countries in the world, has been corrupted so badly.

God knows how Musk and Trump will be remembered in a hundred years time. And what will be the state of the world after people like this are finished with it.

Why would Elon Musk accept a position which took him away from running successful companies and significantly reduce his net worth just to tinker around the edges? It's possible that he got sucked in by Trump (who apparently can be very charismatic in private) but it doesn't make a lot of rational sense.

There's a rumour circulating that Elon and Scott Bessent got into a shouting match recently where Bessent accused Musk of failung to deliver any meaningful cuts and a physical altercation occurred. There's also a rumour that Elon is trying to kill the BBB as it takes away EV credits, which affects Tesla.

Trump has also been rather quiet in the last few days. Who knows what is coming?

I don't think the original deal was to tinker around the edges. I think Trump wanted Elons cash and support and created a pretend job for him that appeared to be quite powerful.

Elon likes to attack problems and loves a challenge..It wouldn't be out of character for him to do this at all, as long as he thought he had the power to actually fix something.

Trump wasn't going to give him that power because of political reasons and limitations. Cutting spending at SpaceX is completely different than cutting spending in the federal government..

Also, I think Elon assumed that his ideas would be codified with legislation. His role never had any real power except to suggest cuts. The plan would be like any legislation supported by the president. Get a congressmen to introduce and pass legislation.

Elon suggested a trillion in cuts. Looks like we're getting about 8 billion of that out of congress in this stupid bill.

Okay…I never have a problem admitting I‘m wrong. it’s undeniable that Musk was instrumental in hauling trump’s arse back into the White House. But I sure AF was wrong in saying trump is too chickenshit to ever publicly challenge Musk.

Not only is trump cutting him loose, he’s also publicly humiliating the guy right there in the Oval Office!

“I’m very disappointed in Elon…..I helped Elon a lot…..I think he misses the place…”, then babbling on about “the glamour” being gone 😂 Way to twist that knife in a little deeper, Cheeto!

The question now is: what, if anything, will be Elon’s revenge?

Elon will likely back candidates in 2026 that will do what Trump said he would do in 2024..

Massey and Paul are in Trumps crosshairs. Look to Elon supporting them and like minded folks..

The Libertarian Party is in shambles, but maybe cash could fix some issues.

Problem is, I just don't think any amount of money changes the minds of enough Americans to do anything but allow for a 3rd party to be anything but be a spoiler.

Elon needs to ask for his money back. I'm not sure about some of his political opinions which are questionable to say the least. However, I am sure that Trump is an idiotic muppet who cannot be trusted...ever.

Elon is currently in the middle of a massive Twitter bender (probably ketamine fuelled) where he is dragging up old posts of MAGA politicans saying how terrible the deficit is and how it needs to be tackled. It's rather amusing.

I'm not sure the drug use is that big of a problem.  Churchill guided a nation through war, drunk about half the time. 🤔😉

I guess that answers my question about how scorched earth Elon’s revenge could prove to be.

trump‘s demented ego just couldn’t stop that mouth of his from running. Cutting Musk loose wasn’t going to be enough, without adding some public humiliation into the mix.

But how addled must he be to want to make an enemy of the guy he owes everything to?

Team neither.

Musk’s pissed off about the nixing of the EV tax credits, and his buddy not getting the NASA top job.

Look at the devastation he caused with the DOGE cuts, and the countless thousands of lives he needlessly upended. And all for what…? A paltry 9.4 billion?

I hope they ‘chainsaw’ each other into oblivion.

Anyone who will swing at the leaders of both of our major parties is fine by me.

People don't seem to understand him..He's not like Gates, Thiel or Bezos. He likes to do things not collect things.

Dude barely has any tangible possessions.

Explain how we could ever do cuts, without people being impacted?

Granted, he appeared to enjoy it too much, but what he did needs to be done, but by about a factor of 100..Just more solemnly..

Trump has under estimated Elon big time. I don't have time for Mr Musk at all but the orange sociopath has made no secret of how he views women and if this comes back to haunt, so be it.
