Apparently he put out a Twitter post shortly before the launch promoting it, which is why a lot of crypto traders invested heavily. To be fair, I haven't seen the post either.

If he has promoted it knowing it is a rug pull then that's daylight robbery of ordinary investors. Crypto is obviously high risk but insider trading rigs the market.

But he "promotes" a lot of stuff. I think he realized this was probably a bad idea and deleted the post. Now, if he personally profited he's likely in trouble.

I think he may still be in trouble if he promoted and knew it was a rug pull. It looks like he is getting pursued now on fraud charges and the opposition is seeking his impeachment.

Why are elected officials promoting high risk meme coins anyway? That's irresponsible. I know Trump did it with his Trump coin and Melanie coin but that was just before he took office so he was still a private citizen. A sign of things to come I guess.

 It’s a grift. A relentless, 24/7/365 grift.

I can’t help wondering how many CEOs are salivating and stuffing ‘brown envelopes’ to offer 47, when he and his shadow president start privatising and contracting out some of the work of the government agencies they’ve bludgeoned.

He did it to promote an Argentinian product. Politicians promote all sorts of home grown ideas. Would it be odd for a president in the US to stand in front of a Ford factory and promote the great products built there?.

Do you think that's new?

Kamala spent 1 fucking billion dollars on her campaign (and wound up 20 million in the hole).

Eisenhower's farewell speech warned of the military industrial complex owning US government and he made thar before I was born..

 A-MEN to that! nod

I‘m STILL trying to get my head around the batshit decision to summarily fire hundreds of senior professionals who oversee the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Adding to the anxiety was hearing Rahm Emmanuel just now on CNN giving dire warnings about how seriously imminent a second pandemic could be.

Who better to manage that than 47 and Elon‘s steady hands at the helm, right?  Not to mention that RFK Jr. nutjob - the antivax, ex-heroin addict whose brain was partially eaten by a worm, and who likes to chow down on the dead bear cub meat he keeps in his fridge… (to the folks who don’t believe me, check out the guy himself confirming it all in interviews).

What’s left of the Center for Disease Control and other health agencies‘ websites have been offline for days now. So if all hell breaks loose again, there’ll be little to no updates/guidance available to the public.

It‘s absolute insanity.

Oh bullshit. You seriously want to compare the two instances?

Show me where the Kennedy toddler was caught on a hot mic saying to a sitting president, “You’re not the president. You need to go away”. And “I want you to shush your mouth up”. Jury’s still out on whether he just said ‘mouth’ or ‘fucking mouth’, but hey whatever…

Look, as a non-American I always try to respect your views. I’ve told you that before. But I will say what you’ve just posted is a ridiculous comparison, imo.

Depends if the US President stood in front of a Ford factory saying how great it was, thereby boosting the share price, knowing full well that the next day it would be hit with a major lawsuit which would cause the share price to tank, meaning a small amount of insider traders got very rich while most ordinary investors got liquidated.

Was Milei fradulent? Probably not. Utterly negligent? Looks like it.

$6bn was lost in market cap across the meme coin market as a result. Maybe he has done the world a favour by showing these markets are based on nothing but hot air.

I have no idea what either toddler said. Nor am I that concerned with what any toddler says.

I do know Elon's toddler put a booger on the desk. No idea if JFK's did..

If accurate, that’s outrageous and it’s on her and the Democrats‘ incompetence. I’m honestly interested in how you view Musk increasing his grotesque wealth by $8million (a day) since the election. Also on how he’s honing in on and decimating any government agency that was investigating him.

Corruption in government is a tale as old as time. Question always is, which is the lesser of two evils at any given election time? If I were American, I’d sure as hell prefer not to opt for the current shambolic shitshow.

I can’t see American democracy surviving trump 2.0. I really hope I’m wrong, fwiw.

Nah, the president is still going to support the Ford plant because it's an American company with American workers. He might attack management at times but still defend the entity as a whole..

This crap with Milei is just him catching AA fire like you always doing when your over your target causing damage.

Of course it's accurate. And you should look at who gave her campaign money, and then who received it. And she's still asking for more to square her account..

I think Musk will end up losing money in the long run. I don't care, and more importantly I don't think he cares.

It's never the lesser of two evils at election time. Not in my book.  But if you insist on going there, the status quo was untenable, unsustainable and indefensible..

Are you aware of how serious our debt problem is?

Trump is wholly unsuited for the job. Unfortunately, he's our best shot because our two major parties can't nominate anyone of value and I live in a country full of people who believe they must pick the lesser of two evils..

From Al Jazeera.....
.

"But FEC filings show that the campaign also spent $20m — an amount almost identical to its reported debt — on concerts and celebrity appearances in the final days before the election.

A cadre of celebrities like Jon Bon Jovi, Christina Aguilera, Katy Perry, Megan thee Stallion and Lady Gaga performed at rallies in battleground states on the eve of Election Day. That may not have been the wisest investment, say some experts."

^Think about this. Celebrities worth millions were getting paid directly from the Harris campaign, to support Harris. I can't think of a more blatant disregard for "other people's money" than this.

…………..

I sure am aware, MD. I’m also aware that 47 cranked up your national debt by $8Trillion in his first term. Now, it seems he’s trying to obliterate the debt ceiling altogether, so he can knock himself out doing whatever TF he wants.

I‘ll just add this, before stepping away today…..

Did your people really end up picking the lesser of two evils? All the alleged bomb threats on election day at the swing states‘ polling stations. Plus Musk in the run-up to election day repeatedly posting on his disinfo hub (formerly known as Twitter) that “Anything can be hacked.”  All of that maybe, just maybe, could have rigged/affected the overall outcome.

But again, that’s down to the Democrats’ incompetence and failure to take a closer look, by at least calling for audits of any questionable election results.

And the ordinary investors who lose money in the rigged market are simply collateral damage?

What group of people are particularly attracted to crypto trading? Men, and young men in particular. They see a labour market in front of them where it is increasingly difficult to get a job which pays anywhere near enough to have a family and a house. They see people on social media making a killing and living a seemingly lavish lifestyle and fear getting left behind. They therefore gravitate towards high risk activities such as crypto trading because at least you can make it big there, you have a shot at a good life.

Treating these young men as economic cannon fodder in a bigger game is appalling. Elected representatives have a duty to act responsibly and we should expect them to do so.
