None of us are young, though 'being older' is all relative....but have you personally ever suffered from ageism?
Yes.
How, when, why?
From what I've seen, I am afraid a lot of it has been on here from anons. Commenting on pictures, weight etc like a load of schoolkids. Not sure what ages they are but would bet 45+
Yes, ageism on forums has always been rife.
I don't count that though...anons who hide behind their insults will pick on anything to score a point, age, weight, intellect, morals, etc...they dont count.
Yea I see what you are saying, but forums can be the worse place for it as people are anon. In real life it’s different. I’m a larger lady, “old” , so i woild never put a pic up. But I applaud those on here that have x

No, I've never experienced this at all, or know anyone who has tbh.
The only time I have, is on forums.
The only time I have noticed it in real life, and it's not me, because I don't drive anymore, OH does, and I notice some younger drivers seem to disregard him because he is older....they zoom past him at lights etc....as if he is old and slow.
He drove for a living, and is a better driver than they will ever be.
Well, is he driving slow?

No, he does'nt cut people up either.
Boy racers always crack me up. At traffic lights, I listen to them revving up and taking years off the life of their exhaust pipes, and hear their (usually) clapped-out old bangers squealing. And I mostly think “Yeah okay…whatever, sweetheart.”
But I will admit to occasionally playing with them a little….

And the people who make derogatory remarks could be older and fatter...and from what I have seen in the past when their pics get leaked, definitely uglier...inside and out.
We always say NEVER put a pic up or divulge any info you feel is too private.

Well be careful...some of the Spanish 'roads' we have driven on, more gravel than tarmac, with a sheer drop, always on the passenger side, are not for the faint hearted.
I think ageism is rife towards women on social media platforms due to the so called "Manosphere" . Women are considered to have "hit the wall" by age 30 and men apparently aren't interested in them as no woman is attractive beyond that age..! These men celebrate poisonous men like Andrew Tate who treat young women like playthings to use.
Sadly this has spilled into real life due to the incels (involuntary celibate) because these mostly socially awkward men spend all their time on computers writing the most cruel and untrue rhetoric about women. Women are blamed for everything from the decline in young men's mental health to the lack of babies now being born. These men don't stop to think their attitude may be the reason there are now far less relationships and families. They feel entitled to sexual intimacy from women and blame women for not giving it. There have been incel shootings both in the UK and the States causing fatalities, borne of men's hatred of women. Domestic violence rates have risen along with this toxic content where men discuss how expendable women are and how "Men are the Prize".
This misogynistic attitude has also stopped many of the Gen Z ladies dating and there is a real fear around the developed world that not enough babies are being born. South Korea is in a real crisis about the issue.
Sorry to stray from the topic but there is a real aggressive loathing towards women from a certain type of men in society. It's simmering under the surface in the workplace and the home and ageism is just a part of it.
I have never seen it. There has always been men in society that fear/despise/feel inferior to women, not older or younger women, just women in general.
Speaking of age, did anyone else see Mick Jagger on stage at the Oscars? He bounded in like an 18 year old, absolutely full of life and enthusiasm...great to see.

He is very fit always had been.. He dances around like a teen. Not a face to.match though
He has always had a rubber face...I actually think even that has aged very well.
It's nice to see a man in his 80's looking so fit. I know women are usually the ones who are considered 'past it' when they get to a certain age, but contrary to popular belief, I think women age far, far better than men in the looks department, as long as they take care of what they have.
