He just changes his mind a lot. He throws an idea out there and reads the room. If he gets the wrong reaction he tries a different idea.

He does what most people do in their heads, or in a

closed door meeting, publicly..

Watching Trump and Zelenskyy in todays Oval office meeting, I think Trumps vow to end the war, has actually made it worse.

He is accusing Zelensky of not being ready for peace, disrespecting the US, and it's been a bloody disaster for the Ukraine. I can see things escalating after todays events.

Trump simply cannot say a bad word about Putin. You may as well have had Putin in the room negotiating instead.

This is an existential crisis for Europe. We need to shelve the Brexit idiocy and align with the EU as soon as possible.

That wouldn't make the rich lose wealth but rather slow the rate of growth of it. Even a conservative investment plan would generate a return of 5% so they would still be 3% up. The money could be redistributed to tax breaks for the working / middle class or eliminating stamp duty for first time buyers or measures to access assets. That might give many of our kids a fighting chance in the future.

You may call it the politics of envy, I call it the politics of self preservation. The rich have no problem advocating for their interests and do so shamelessly. Why shouldn't hard working people demand the same?

Depends on how liquid their assets are, and generally they are not. It's not very easy to pack up and leave if you hold commercial property, own factories, land and mortgages etc. If they want to benefit from Britain, it's people and her resources then it is likely they will remain or if not their income could be taxed before flowing out of the country.

But if they want to leave then we can happily show them the door. There is enough talent, investment and resources in the UK for them to be replaced with time and re-establish a fairer society. We do not have to bow to their whims.

Zelenskyy was goaded by J.D Vance telling him he wasn't thankful enough. That was absurd and untrue, the Ukraine president has always expressed his gratitude and thanks. Someone else from the American administration started on Zelenskyy for his clothing asking why he didn't wear a suit. They know what he always wears. I felt he was set up a bit and unfortunately fell for the bait. The American administration have not said a bad word about Putin yet Trump called Zelenskyy a dictator which was a blatant lie. That is just manipulative and Putin will be rubbing his hands with glee.

Because I don't believe giving politicians a bunch more .only helps anyone except the politicians, and politicians exploit the working class pretending to advocate for them..

When Zelenskyy comes here in a couple of days he will be treated with respect. I imagine he and the Ukraine will be supported in Europe more than ever now.

Is it? So the shared consensus is don't have fair taxation because politicans won't actually use extra funds to help the poor. Well a solution needs to be found as we used to spend a giddy 0.5% percent of the entire budget on foreign aid, now its 0.25. That really is an insult. Nor does charity begin at home as the most deprived working familes cannot afford dental treatment, the NHS remains in tatters relying on immigrant workers and ppl working still have to resort to food banks. Further cuts to welfare and income will surely follow. So we should just let the poor starve? There has to be a way.

What I meant was there is no point in taking the downsides of taxing the rich (risk of capital flight for example) if the money doesn't get specially redistributed to the people who need it. It could simply get swallowed up in poorly though out measures or vanity projects.

The principal benefit of it is to give the working and middle class the ability to own and retain assets, rather than living pay cheque to pay cheque, so they can have a proper stake in the country again. I don't want to be a vassal of the rich frankly.

Also, the Ukrainians don't like the term "the Ukraine". Apparently the Russians gave that too them. I have a hard time not saying or typing "The Ukraine". I just recently realized why everyone stopped saying it that way..

Talks have not proceeded as yet.

Note the difference in the way Starmer greeted him to the way Trump did....he made snide remarks about the way Zelinskyy was dressed, Starmer was open and friendly. Sending a clear message to that goon that Britain is on his side, the right side.
