How safe is it to go on boat excursions whilst abroad?
Most people dont give it a second thought, I go on loads, and the worst thing I have encountered is huge waves washing people off their seats in the boats. Luckily, no one was really hurt.
Last yea a tourist boat capsized in the Red Sea, four dead and seven are still missing.
Today, six are dead, four in critical condition after a submarine sunk, again in the Red Sea
Would this put you off going on sea tourist expeditions abroad?
Yeah, I've gotten a little claustrophobic as I've gotten older. Not sure I want to get in a submarine anywhere. As for a boat, it wouldn't bother me. I'd want to make sure they had life preservers and such if I had my grandkids..
Yep, in certain areas of the Red Sea. But hopefully not near those poor victims.
But again, when swimming there and dolphins get curious enough to get close and then start to play, the rest of the world just fades away 😍
So true.
We have swum up close with dolphins several times in the Red Sea....there is a place called Dolphin Reef, the dolphins are free in the sea, but they come to play because they are fed and protected. I hopefully will go again, not just yet given the political climate in Israel at the minute,
Most sharks won't hurt you, I think we are far more a danger to them than them to us.
Sting rays are a bigger threat here..They will mess up your leg. A dolphin could break your leg if he ran into you, but they aren't aggressive creatures..
But when you see one of their fins, your heart might skip a beat..

Yep, with joy.
I have swam with a dolphin either side of me...they slowed their pace stay alongside me, then jumped over me...one of the best moments of my life.
One of the worst, in Cyprus, where captive dolphins performed for the crowds...I complained, to no avail.

Depends. If your standing in 3 or 4 feet of water, in water that has sharks, that fin is hard to distinguish at a few hundred feet..
Once you know it's a dolphin, then it's all fine..
I have never seen a shark in the sea. I have seen the fishing boats in Cornwall coming in with some pretty big specimens hanging up.
TBH, the last thing I think about when I am sea swimming is a shark attacking.
I have - fed them too I’d love to tell you where it was that I actually went out on an organised shark-feeding trip. It was an amazing experience. But the flash location might trigger some crappy Anon posts. So prob best not……
Often spotted Red Sea sharks when I was in Eilat though, but only from a sunbed!
I wouldn't go down in a submarine, but I love boats. A perfect afternoon is being out on a boat, watching the dolphins, whales, turtles (if you are lucky) then having a swim in an isolated cove, and a picnic....heaven.

I won't go in the ocean at all now. Sharks scare the hell.out of me.
