You do have a weird system where even a legal immigrant can't work..At least for a period of time..

What is the thought behind that?

That's ayslum seekers. They cannot work while their asylum claim is pending, unless it goes over a 12 month period which they are waiting.

Legal immigrants are allowed to work unless they have specific visa restrictions.

Some of the posters here know an American man that married a Brit.

He then moved to the UK after his wife proved she could support both of them. Then she was forced to do so for at least 6 months while he stayed home watching her work OT to make ends meet.

He was prohibited from working..

Yes, Ben and Eddie. I can't remember the details, but how Eddie managed to support them both when she worked at McDonald's, seems impossible.

And she had two kids. I think the kids dad was still in the picture.

They are both homebodies so they can live pretty cheaply though..

Hard to tell. I see both of them on Facebook and I see a lot from her on another Facebook page dedicated to conspiracy theories.

But I don't see them interacting with each other on Facebook.

I know Ben isn't even a member of the conspiracy page. 🤷

I also know that it's hard to glean a lot from Facebook, unless it's from someone who loves to overshare about relationships, and neither of them do that..

Haven't heard of that situation before if I am being honest. May have been a problem with the Spouse Visa then as I believe although there isn't an automatic entitlement to be able to work here you can do us straight away as long as you have the correct visa in place.

Glad they got it sorted out in the end though.
