Yes Magica, you were lied to by Michael Gove and Nigel Farage who promised the NHS would receive 2 billion pounds if people voted for brewit. Needless to say Brexit materalised but the money did not. Farage blatantly lied to the pubic proving he cannot be trusted, yet you and Red want him for PM! That makes no logical sense.
There's no one else tbh. I think he will make a good PM, but.I'm no fool, they all lie and say what we want to hear until voted.
Also Labour and Cons are finished. Dragged this country down between them.

The only politician I can think of who would make a good PM, is the mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham. He is open and honest, and very popular in the NW.
He was an MP for a long time, and has served as Mayor here since 2017.
He hasn't ruled out returning to politics and standing again.
I don't know him Syl, but I know you think highly of him.
By the time Starmer's finished, this country as we know.it will vanish!
I wonder what the criteria will be for pensioners being able to collect WFP?
My guess is if they/we are not already claiming some benefit or another, we still won't get it.

My thoughts too. It won't go to every pensioner like before, there will be a catch.

It will probably be means tested. I don't even know what WFP is, but I doubt Elton John needs it..

Winter fuel payment.
Elton John has quite a few different properties around the globe, so I guess he just goes to a hotter climate if he is cold.
It was means tested, but way too harshly. I don't think all pensioners should get the payment, but the way it was taken away from so many who do need it was disgraceful.

Basically every western nation is crumbling under the weight of all of these programs, especially for older people. Everything is going to have to be means tested and those that can afford to provide for themselves are going to have to.
Watch Japan. They are the canary in the coal mine.
Avon mentioned it somewhere else, but these programs are hard to modify or eliminate when they get too expense, or their aren't enough people funding them. People won't tolerate changes because they see money going towards something they don't value, and determine there is money for what they do value..
Throw in a binary political system that feeds.off blaming the other side, and nothing gets solved..

Maybe it's temporary.
Obesity, global warming, food additives, unhealthy lifestyles, lack of exercise, people today are not as fit as the present older generation.
Add to that the age of retirement, which will be pushing 70 in the next decade or so.
As long as the majority of people contribute, the economy could improve....without taking money of the vulnerable and the elderly.
Keir Starmer is facing major pressure to reveal the true cost of his deal to surrender the UK's last territory in the Indian Ocean, amid growing anger at the cost to the UK taxpayer.
The Prime Minister confirmed today that the UK plans to hand the Chagos Islands to Mauritius under a deal that will cost taxpayers an average of £101million a year for almost a century.
But he said that the total cost of the agreement, which will see the UK lease back the Diego Garcia air base for 99 years, would be just £3.4billion.
Documents released today show that the UK will actually pay Mauritius £165million a year for the first three years to lease Diego Garcia, which is used by the United States.
It falls to £120million a year for the following decade and then £120million adjusted for inflation for the rest of the 99-year lease.
However the documents also show Britain will also pay £45million a year for 25 years - more than £1.1 billion in total - into a fund for 'projects that promote the ongoing economic development and welfare of Mauritius and its people'.
There is also a one-off fund of £40million to help Chagossians displaced by the creation of the base in the 1970s.
Some reports suggest the true cost of the handover will be closer to £30billion in cash terms, assuming an average of 2 per cent inflation, at a time when the government has cut winter fuel payments for pensioners and has capped child benefits.
That figure is also three times the annual GDP of Mauritius.
Tory leader Kemi Badenoch said: 'At least £30 billion of taxpayers’ money thrown away in a Surrender Tax - and likely much more, British territory handed over to a country aligned with China (and) our national security needlessly weakened, all to appease the lawyers and activist elite Keir Starmer surrounds himself with.
I swear to God, I hate that man. And I don't hate people very often.
Theres a very good arrticle in last Sunday's Telegraph by Daniel Hannan. It's just a 2 minute read, but a good one
"Remainers such as Sir Keir have a deep-seated need to atone for the sin of Brexit, by giving away everything Brussels asks for"
"Britain holds all the cards in the EU ‘reset’. There is no reason to give Brussels anything"
"If Sir Kier Starmer gets his way, Britain will be not so much the EU’s biatch as its gimp. He will hand us over, wrapped in shiny black leather, with a ball gag in our mouth, prepared to do as we are told. Give us your fish! Pay for our students! Deploy your soldiers where we need them! Follow our rules in perpetuity!"
