… to solve our trivial First World problems wink

I always buy the greenest bananas I can find, knowing that in this hot climate they’ll start to ripen by the time I’m loading them into the car.

Saw this, and thought I’d give it a go….store them separately away from the main stem, and try wrapping the stem of each banana with a little piece of foil. I won’t bore you with the science about fruit ’gas emissions’. But I can tell you, it definitely works for me nod

If you have hanging baskets high up, tip ice cubes in them, it's a lot easier than trying to angle a watering can up there.

Line a container, or sink drain hole, with tin foil and pour in your unwanted cooked fat/oil. Dispose with household rubbish.

 👏🏻👏🏻 Good thinking!

Prior to knee replacement surgery, fill your freezer. Especially if your OH needs a GPS to find the cooker 😉

Again, all the best for tomorrow! 💐

I never buy bananas. There are only a handful of things I don't like, and bananas are one of them. My mother said I ate them like crazy as toddler and just stopped one day. 🤷

That’s a shame - and a surprise. Given your health thread, I imagined you of all people would know how incredibly good they are for you - great for a daily intake of potassium, antioxidants and B6, among other good stuff.

I try and aim for one a day,

I wish I liked them. Because they are also cheap (at least here). I don't like coconut either. If I ever get stranded on a tropical island I better get good at spearing fish or I'll starve..

Don't know if this is a hack. I just learned it, but maybe I'm just dumb.

I let my avocados ripen and then put them in the fridge. They last a week like that..

Before, I would either only buy two at a time, or end up wasting them..

 lol

Also, bananas are a great alternative to gift cards when you want write motivational messages to sex workers! nod

She grabbed a marker, and said, "I am in charge of the banana messaging," and began to write words of encouragement on the bananas. Some of the messages included, "You are special," "You are strong," "You are brave" and "You are loved." With each one, she drew a small heart.

While we're on the topic of food, has anyone got a tip for keeping potatoes? I regularly order a pack of four baking potatoes from Tesco, I keep them in a cupboard in the kitchen but they start sprouting the tips of shoots after only a couple of days...

What about blended in a smoothie?

I keep some frozen banana slices in the freezer. I blend it with some frozen berries, spinach, cucumber, chocolate protein powder and the milk or ice, depending on what I feel like.

Great way of getting protein and nutrients into my diet and it takes delicious.

I love banana smoothies😋

Another little foil hack I saw and tried, to speed up the ripening of rock hard avocados.

Wrap the whole avocado in foil and place on a rack in a pre-heated oven (200 degrees). Should only take about 10 minutes, depending on how hard the avocado is. Remove from oven and leave to cool. Unwrap and enjoy.

Dark and cold.   Like your fridge.

I can't stand bananas.   Ugh, the texture and flavour and everything.    I'd have to be starving to eat one.

It sorta depends. I have smoothies all of the time like you described.  Half a banana probably would be fine because the other flavors would mask it..

I have frozen cubes of cantaloupe which are similar in potassium and readily available here.

Yeah, there is a texture aspect too.

Being Burgled? Get a lightning fast police response by simply telling the 999 operator that you have a gun and will deal with the burglar yourself! Then sit back and be amazed how fast the armed police arrive!

...or tell them that you are about to make a social media post about immigration or trans women

Should guarantee at least half a dozen squad cars, dogs, and a helicopter
