But old is in the head just as much as in the body. You concentrate on age far too much.

 Of course age isn't the only factor in one's outlook, but on the other hand age impacts your physical ability and health. None of us can physically do what we could 30 years ago. Such is the cycle of life..

 I think the fact I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago ensured beyond any doubt that my birth giving days are well and truly over

 There's an increasing trend for younger people who get knee replacements.   Obesity being a major contributor.  The amount of fat teenagers around is terrible.

 There are also records of women well past natural birthing age having babies with the help of IVF....I'm sure one woman was even in her 70's when she gave birth....so Maddog may want to have a rethink.

Can you imagine having a baby in old age though?
I was still in my 40's when I became a nana....and though I had loads of energy, I didn't have the same energy I had when I was in my 20's and had my son.
When I am a great nan (possibly not too far away) I certainly won't be doing the things I did when I was a new nan.

Mother Nature usually has it right.
