I actually asked my surgeon if the recovery would take longer as I was 11 years older than I was after my first knee replacement. He said probably not. Obviously I am not comparing 60 plus with 20 or 30 yer olds...but a fit 60/70 year old will probably fare as well or better than an obese 40/50 year old when it comes to many ops.
Absolutely.
But let's be real. Any discussion about body part replacements from age is basically a conversation about older folks, whether we like it or not.

Be glad you get the opportunity to be old..😉
Oh I agree, joint replacements are for the older generation.
But old is in the head just as much as in the body. You concentrate on age far too much.

Age is.just a number. I don't feel my age, neither do you Syl, and you certainly don't look it.
We are as old as our tongue and a little older than our teeth

No I don't. I discuss things that are age related. People act, think and live differently based on age.
You're a boomer and because of that, you don't see the world like Gen Z.
Also, experience goes a long way in how we see things.
Maybe it's because your girlfriend is considerably younger than yourself, but you do bring age into quite a lot of your posts.
Like I said, age is a number, some 40 year olds have an outlook of a 60 year old, some 90 year olds still have the mindset of someone much younger.

Of course age isn't the only factor in one's outlook, but on the other hand age impacts your physical ability and health. None of us can physically do what we could 30 years ago. Such is the cycle of life..
That's why discussions about the health of people on this forum tends to center around age related issues, and not pregnancy issues. That ship sailed..

Thank God. Give me a knee replacement over a fast and furious, spine cracking labour any day.

At your age, you're in no risk of experiencing the latter.
And my daughters are in no risk of experiencing the former.

See how age matters when discussing health. 😉
I think the fact I had a hysterectomy 20 years ago ensured beyond any doubt that my birth giving days are well and truly over

There's an increasing trend for younger people who get knee replacements. Obesity being a major contributor. The amount of fat teenagers around is terrible.

There are also records of women well past natural birthing age having babies with the help of IVF....I'm sure one woman was even in her 70's when she gave birth....so Maddog may want to have a rethink.

The uterus can house and nurture a baby long after menopause.
Can you imagine having a baby in old age though?
I was still in my 40's when I became a nana....and though I had loads of energy, I didn't have the same energy I had when I was in my 20's and had my son.
When I am a great nan (possibly not too far away) I certainly won't be doing the things I did when I was a new nan.

I don't need to rethink things because of statistical anomalies.

Mother Nature usually has it right.
See.
We agree. 👍
Of course we agree on some things, you can't be wrong ALL the time.
